Meet Trey Scott of DJ Holymecca in Fort Worth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Trey Scott.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Trey. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Let’s start with my mom and how her love for music inspired a love for me as well. She is a major music fan preferably Southern Blues. She would always listen to Blues on the way to what we call the country but it’s a small town in Northeast Louisiana (Waterproof). My brother who is four years older than me is a hip hop music fan and would let me listen to his 2pac, Cash Money, and Bad Boy Cd’s. I loved listening to the local radio hip hop station in New Orleans Q93. I loved it so much I would record the radio to cassette tapes and also try to create new songs with parts of different songs. Crazy I know. Throughout the years, I would see different dj’s in New Orleans rock the block parties and one in particular named (PEE-WEE) from Gerttown New Orleans was the best hands down to me. I would always be the go to guy for what was hot or what people should listen to. My uncle was a DJ, a friend of mine was a dj at the time and I would be an adviser sometimes on music. My friends would always tell me I had an ear for music. It wasn’t until years and years went by, circumstances would allow me to try my hand at entertainment. My brother visited me from New Orleans and we decided to listen to music out loud.

For some reason, we downloaded virtual dj on my mac and played music from it. We love challenging each other on what’s hot and what’s not. Virtual DJ allowed us to play music continuously and we thought we were djing in the house. Fun times. I said to him and my wife, I want to dj and their response was “You should”. I decided to buy some equipment and start on my journey. I reach out to some other friends for advice and information on what I should do and what I need. DJ Ram, Big Daddie the dj, DJ OB, and DJ City Boy were very helpful. My wife and I came up with and idea for my first gig to be djing for my birthday party at my home. The party was fun, friends gave me great feedback, and I was very excited to start my career as DJ Holymecca. I practiced non-stop and continue to do so to this day. I booked my first gig with a long time friend which was day party and we did three of them. I exceeded my expectations that year with quotes and bookings. I’ve been in the business three years and I’m having the time of my life.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a smooth road but the process is what makes it great. Some struggles include not being booked. Consumers not agreeing with pricing. Clubs and promoters low balling.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about DJ Holymecca – what should we know?
My business is DJing and providing music clubs, bars, weddings, and all types of parties. I can perform for any event or crowd. My song selection and mixing sets me apart from others but my personality helps a ton as well.

I am a DJ first… I specialize in providing a great show. I’m my own MC. I can dj a Day Party in Dallas, a sweet 16 in the evening, and perform at bar in Grand Prairie at night. My availability is key as well as my people skills. My job is to provide a great experience every time. I’ve been very successful so far.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Work ethic, polite, great attitude, outgoing, consistency
