Meet Brenda Flores Robles of Trinity and Tulip in San Antonio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brenda Flores Robles

Brenda, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Trinity and Tulip was created on Valentine’s Day when my daughter Trinity suggested I make earrings. Prior to this day, Trinity and I were on a roll painting every day on canvas and on many other things. That evening we began working on our very first pair. I had an idea of how to make earrings and using my imagination I began making them heart-shaped since it was February 14. I used the soft white paper cover of the inside of the chocolate box that covers the chocolate and traced it on mixed media paper, then I cut the heart shapes out and painted them with colorful acrylic paint. Next, I let them dry and last I added accessories to complete the earrings. That night I finished almost at midnight. I took an idea, I executed and I launched all in one day. Sometimes when inspiration hits I stay awake until 3 in the morning creating. Today I also make fashionable handmade hair bows. The future of Trinity and Tulip is to have a handmade clothing line with handbags and accessories.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?

Since Trinity and Tulip are handmade items to make something requires using the right materials to make it all work together. Holding it all well without falling apart was a challenge at first, but with many trials and errors I finally figured it out.  I am really enjoying the process of creating handmade things.

Tell us more about the business.
I am very proud of this handmade business I created because I was fearless creating it. I didn’t ask for permission and I didn’t hesitate on whether I should create it. The same day I started working on the earrings until I finished making my first pair. I had an idea and I followed through. I’m consistently creating and with my creative vision it makes it much more special. I can make 32 fiesta earrings in an hour. I timed myself. Only those kind though. I am a machine. Most importantly, I have fun. I enjoy it and it makes me happy.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I believe in doing what makes me happy. It’s working on what fulfills you the most that will keep you going no matter what happens to you and around you. It’s in my love for what I do that creates my best work. The love that you put into your work shines from the inside out. People gravitate to your love and light. Every day you got to work on your goals that are aligned with your purpose. One of the many things I have learned is that if you wait for opportunities or permission to begin, you will never accomplish anything. You got to start. You got to go for what you want. You got to ask for what you want, and if they don’t have what you need, ask someone else but keep asking. Eventually someone will say yes and always follow through. This is how you get things done. We are all here for a reason and I’m here to create.
