Meet Tsafrir (Mike) Melamed of PhotosTM Photography in McKinney

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tsafrir (Mike) Melamed.

Tsafrir (Mike), let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My love for photography started when I got my first camera for my Bar-Mitzvah (13 years old). I fell in love with photography and started documenting all the field trips at school, and experimenting with film photography. I purchased my first Digital SLR camera when I was 21. That was the biggest turning point for my career as a photographer! Being able to see the image right when I took it was amazing. No more writing the exposure settings on a piece of paper and going back to check and compare the results after you develop your film… What a transformation… I started taking photos professionally at salsa night club.

It was awesome since I loved dancing salsa and taking photos, so getting in for free to dance and take few photos for the clubs was a perfect combination. Then I started documenting much larger events and eventually transitioned to wedding photography. My unique style of creative lighting and angles separates me from the competition, in addition to the high quality Italian albums I personally design. I love taking the “non-traditional” images, unique angles, and special lighting setups that make the images pop out of the page!

Has it been a smooth road?
Like every business nothing is easy. We moved here from California where we had a successful photography studio brand. We love Texas, and we believe our unique style can benefit brides and grooms in this area.

I can sum up my love to being a photographer with one simple line: I love capturing people at their best moments, and the best compliment I get is when someone says: “I love that photo!” I specialize in taking candid natural images that bring the subjects to shine. I love documenting the once-in-a-lifetime moments that happen during weddings, and creating the best memories for my customers to look back to when they have grandchildren. How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I think it is all about educating the customer about why they need a professional photographer. many think that if everyone has an iPhone, they will get all the awesome photos from their wedding, and that’s not the case… you need that professional eye to get the best moments that you will eventually cherish for life.
