Ty – please share your story with us.
I am the owner and founder of Legacy Lace wigs LLC. I am an Alumni member of The University of North Texas where I studied Rehabilitation, Psychology, Biology. I later furthered my education and received an Executive Masters in Business (MBA). Last but not least I am an M.D. at UT Southwest candidate in psychiatry.
I found my passion for creating a natural look for people with hair loss ailments in 2004. I felt a woman’s crown of glory is her hair and that defines her physical femininity, therefore designing lace wigs was a must. I was aware that people can buy wigs everywhere, but what I offer is something unique. This is my natural hairline creation. Everyone has a different and unique hairline and to accomplish the most true you she must duplicate what your natural hairline should resemble. This is when legacy lace wigs was born.
Has it been a smooth road?
My most struggles were in the beginning, no one supported me in my decision to make cranial prosthetic. I was told you are a doctor. My thoughts were even though I carry this big title and responsibility I do not believe fully in Western medicine. I felt that looking good on the outside psychologically it makes you feel better and in return promotes a healthy recovery.
So, I had to face reality, that I did go to school for many years but at the last moment realized I want to work doing what I will love. People up until this very moment still give me a hard time. However, I follow my heart and do what God has lead me to do. I have had success but it was not easy. If it wasn’t for the support of my husband doing whatever it takes to build my brand I will not be here now. I started from my formal living room to a prime location in Flower Mound TX. I’m also in network with Blue Cross Blue Shield and I am currently the only one in North Texas. Which is a big accomplishment.
