Today we’d like to introduce you to Umar Baig.
So, before we jump into specific questions about what you do, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started my career in the hotel industry. After some time, I felt I was just stuck in the same daily routine. My brother in law presented me with a food truck opportunity and we decided we wanted to bring our culture to the forefront but in a very different light. That’s when the idea of Halal Mother Truckers happened.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Can’t say the road has been smooth. Growing pains are always bittersweet. They hurt like hell but you learn and grow from them the most. Biggest struggles initially were to learn how the food truck industry works. Then, once that struggle became easier, we had to go through the struggles of introducing something new to the city of Dallas.
Halal Mother Truckers – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We are a Pakistani fusion food truck. We take a bit from each culture and incorporate them with Pakistani meats and seasonings. We are most known for our Tikka Tacos. What we are proud of the most is how multi-cultural our truck is and we try to have something for everyone.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The proudest moment in my career is how we develop young minds. The culture we have created here at Halal Mother Truckers and how we help our employees grow. In return, they go out and bat for us and make sure that everything on the truck is perfect, from the food being fresh and tasting great to making every customer feel special.
