Meet Vanessa Chavez of Vanessa Stiletto Dance

Today we’d like to introduce you to Vanessa Chavez.

So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My whole life has involved movement! I cheered through from elementary up to my senior year in high school and played volleyball in middle school. I picked up dance my sophomore year of high school when I joined the school’s dance company. I trained in every genre from tap and folklorico to modern and Dunham! Having knowledge in movement, musicality, and choreography from being a cheerleader helped me understand dance and all its technicalities fairly quickly. I led team as a dance captain, made choreography for performances, and even taught myself to edit music for our pieces! Once I graduated and went to college, I joined the UTA Macerick Dance Company, which eventually became the UTA Dance Ensemble.

Here I really dived into dancing and found my style. I realized that modern and tap were easily my favorite dance genres. In 2016 I met Jessica Samone in a dance class she taught on my college campus, and in 2019 we reunited! I assisted her in a few of her events and eventually trained to become a party instructor for her brand. Now I am a certified stiletto dance instructor and teach private stiletto dance parties all over the DFW! Alongside being a party consultant for Jessica, I have been a freelance dancer. I have performed in concerts for artists such as Mo3 and Alex TinyB, appeared in music videos, and performed at several festivals. I have taught several classes around the DFW as well as online platforms such as Instagram!

Has it been a smooth road?
As with most careers, there has been many ups and downs in mine! One of my struggles so far has simply been getting my name out there and gaining an audience in this rapid world. The virtual world and its exponential growth has created so much change in how people interact and consume information. With the globe being so connected, being able to share information in the drop of a dime, and everyone absorbing a vast amount of information each day, it’s not as simple anymore to catch someone’s eye! Becoming a successful dancer and performer nowadays doesn’t just include taking class, networking, and auditioning. It now also includes utilizing social media pages to showcase your work and land potential jobs, engaging in “call and response” content in digital media, and much more. In a sense, the dance world and all its opportunities have doubled, and to be successful you must adapt and flow with the changes. And though it may be a struggle, it is a blessing nonetheless!

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Vanessa Stiletto Dance – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
As Vanessa Chavez, I do it all when it comes to dance! I am known for my vibrant personality and my fun, energetic, open-level classes that I have taught in the DFW. I have taught classes in many genres such as hip-hop and heels. I know that every person who comes to my class may come with a different intention, so I always make sure I cater to my audience and provide a trusting and comfortable environment. One thing I am very adamant about in my classes and of my platform is reminding people that they are capable of anything they put their minds to! When I’m in class and I see someone doing a move incorrectly, I will stand with them and teach them the move in a way that they understand better and when their face lights up from getting it, I know my job is done. Under J. Samone Stiletto Dance Experience, I exclusively teach heels classes for women celebrating birthdays, bachelorette parties, having a ladies night, and all the in between! We provide open, fun, no judgment zone parties that help remind women that YES, you got it like that sis! In several packages, we also provide desserts, wine/champagne, a live DJ, and a videographer!

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love the immense amount of culture that comes from my city. I love how deep the history runs and how the people who live here represent the city proudly. Dallas is a well-known city all over the country and we value that. As artists, as businessmen and women, as influencers. Dallas has its own vibe and aura that, in my eyes, can’t be duplicated. The only thing I don’t like about my city is how crazy the weather can get! It’s not strange to find yourself switching between shorts and a t-shirt, and a jacket and pants in the same day.
