Today we’d like to introduce you to Vanessa Farr.
Vanessa, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I got started when I went to Florida for a vacation. I was sitting by the water talking to an old friend about our future as well as what we wanted out of life. We talked about our past and I wondered how could I change or help someone that was or currently in my past situation. I decided I was going to write a book and I wanted to speak to people that has been abused mentally, physically or emotionally and if they’ve experienced being suicidal. I wanted them to know my life before and after Domestic Violence and having suicidal thoughts.
So I decided to write my book called Black Eyes and a Pure Heart which is currently in the middle being published. I tell people all the time that I don’t consider myself a victim of my past because as I gained knowledge of what I went through I had two choices and I choose to stay in the situation. As I learned to love myself until this day I stay positive but I watch how people treat me.
As Maya Angelou stated, “when a person shows themselves believe them”! The signs are always there we just chose to overlook them. Self Love is something that you have to teach yourself. Right now my goal Is to speak to men, women, and teens as being in that situation effects all. I have started a YouTube channel called Author Vanessa Farr and I’m building a brand called Let’s Talk Phenomenal.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
No, the road hasn’t been easy but it’s getting better. I’m a single mom of three beautiful children so at first, I considered myself part of being in the world’s statistics of not having two parents in the household. But I’ve learned that it’s not about being in those numbers because at the end of the day that’s all they are Numbers and I refuse to let numbers define who I am. My children safety, as well as mines, is what’s important.
Us living in peace was well worth me leaving. I was currently laid off in the middle of paying for my book to get published and it has been a struggle but of course, it’s going to be a struggle because it’s my purpose in life and of course life is not easy! I’m currently unemployed but I will not give up on building my brand Lets Talk Phenomenal and I will not give up on showing everyone the afterlife of being in a domestic violence and suicide situation.
Let’s Talk Phenomenal – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Let’s Talk Phenomenal is the after series of my book Black Eyes and a Pure Heart. I motivate and explain the afterlife of domestic violence in one on one or in groups or on my YouTube channel. I’m known as the person you can come to at any time when you need someone to talk to because they know I will listen but give them advice they can use daily. I specialize in listening and understanding as well-being the problem solver.
I specialize in skills due to the facts when I was in my situation that’s all I wanted but never got it. I’m proud of my brand because it comes from the heart. I’m speaking from experience and I’ve gained the knowledge of the afterlife and I want to share it to someone who might be afraid to leave. I want them to see that leaving that situation is worth the peace you will gain and peace is something you can not buy it’s from within.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I don’t define success at all I define value. I don’t want to seek success I want to seek value. I learned you don’t go buy diamonds because they are successful you buy them because of there value. I want to help build broken individuals. Who is better to do that then Vanessa Farr? Nobody but myself can help because I’ve been down that road. My past was my life lesson and many don’t live to tell the afterlife. If I can just help one person it would mean the world to me!
