Today we’d like to introduce you to Vanessa Jeffers and Stephanie Gonzalez.
Vanessa and Stephanie, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
We started Two Nests Homeschool about a month ago. We are made up of two families with the same dream to homeschool our children.
We are both new transplants to the Dallas area and found each other via social media. Since we met this way, we wanted to create an outlet for others to connect and to inspire families to be intentional with the time they have with their children.
With Vanessa’s knowledge in the area of child development ( She has a Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction and is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst turned stay at home mom) and Stephanie’s passion for home education, creativity and planning skills, we have come together to combine our skills to provide fun educational ideas for other families.
Has it been a smooth road?
We just started our blog, so a lot of the struggle has come from our own insecurities. We often find ourselves questioning, “Is this good enough?”,
“ Will people like this?”, or “ should we post this?”. The best we can do is be real and hope the right crowd accepts us for who we are and what we are trying to do.
Getting creative with our ideas to make sure and hit all the developmental domains for the varying ages and levels has also been a challenge. We have kids all the way from 8 months to 3.5. This has required a lot of research and use of our imaginations.
Lastly, managing a blog with four kids between the two of us can be a bit chaotic at times. Between brainstorming, planning, actually doing the activities while trying to get four kids to cooperate can be downright exhausting but we are loving every minute of it!
We’d love to hear more about your business.
We are a pair of mamas dedicated to sharing ideas, bringing our local community together, inspiring moms to be intentional with the time they have with their littles and sharing reviews of local play spots.
We started an Instagram blog as a way to document our homeschool journey but found there are so many parents out there that use Instagram and social media as a way to gain inspiration, connect and find ideas to entertain their kids! Our ultimate goal is to create curriculum and maybe even monthly subscription boxes to make it a one-stop-shop!
Currently, we post art projects, learning activities, knowledge of child development, and exploration ideas. While our main audience is homeschool families, our content applies to all parents!
We aim to bring together moms by showing that no journey into motherhood is always “Instagram perfect”. We are all in this messy challenging world of parenting together!
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
The Dallas area has a large number of families and more specifically a huge number of homeschoolers. We love having a local following.
The overwhelming amount of comments and people reaching out to let us know how much our posts have inspired them or how much they appreciate the ideas has given us a purpose. We would say we are exactly where we need to be! The Dallas area is So family friendly!
Our desire when creating this was help create a community and provide inspiration and that is what we are on our way of doing!
