Meet Varun Tewari of Victory Step Education

Today we’d like to introduce you to Varun Tewari.

Varun, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?– It started when I was tutoring students myself when I was in college! Eventually, in 2010 I had taken on too many students and came up with the idea to start my own business – and it has steadily grown into the wonderful company we have today! I sat down and wrote curriculums for the SAT, ACT, and GMAT. While that wasn’t the most interesting hobby, it gave me tons of respect for these tests and helped me train our wonderful family of tutors.

Now, I look forward to waking up in the morning and helping as many students as possible. And students love us! Our tutors are funny, engaging, and extremely intelligent. Although I am not teaching as much anymore, I am looking forward to expanding our business nationwide and reaching out to more and more students. I mean, who wouldn’t like a great tutor who is smart and hilarious. We call ourselves “The Test Prep Gurus.”

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?: – Of course there are trials and tribulations in anything you do but as a company, we have pushed through many barriers and continue to knock them down. One of the toughest hurdles we face is finding the right talent that complements our business. We only want the absolute best teachers to guide our students to success! We spend hours and hours finding the best talent.

Victory Step Education – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition? What sets us apart is our approach towards tutoring. Tutoring should be rewarding and stimulating. Students look forward to our sessions, and not dread the.

We specialize in K-12 Tutoring, SAT, PSAT, ACT, GMAT, GRE, college admissions prep, and all around academic tutoring. As a company, we are most proud to see our students improve their scores! It really gives them confidence that they can achieve their goals and get into their dream schools. We are known for our rigorous requirements for the tutors we hire! Each tutor is in the top 2 percentiles when it comes to testing – either the ACT or SAT. All our tutors have at least a Bachelor’s degree and many are pursuing a Master’s degree or higher! At this point, we have tutored over 10,000 students and continue to expand every year. We can now be found in 6 different cities and 3 states.

Victory Step is also on a social mission to assist each student in need, regardless of his or her financial background. I believe that you deserve the opportunity to go to college, and also the necessary tools to get there. Victory Step offers merit-based and need-based scholarships for all of our programs to anyone that meet our requirements. 

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
This is an interesting question. I would say my proudest moment was last year when we reached our goal of teaching 10,000 students.
