Today we’d like to introduce you to VcMor Eligwe.
Hi VcMor, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My earliest memory of creating art is when I was around five years old in Nigeria, on my parents’ walls. Back then, all I had were a pencil, a pen, the walls as my canvas, and a wild imagination. I was always so eager to present my finished work to my parents. Maybe they weren’t pleased, as they would always have the walls repainted, or maybe they loved it so much that they wanted me to have a brand-new canvas for the next time. Twenty-five years later, still with the same wild imagination and just a few more additions to my supplies list, I’ve established a business in which people pay me to fill up their walls with my creations. Mor’Art is up and running, 8 years strong.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It has been quite an experience. I felt like I had to have a message or reason in order to create, so I was constantly searching for inspiration. It wasn’t until I embraced my roots completely that I felt a sense of purpose. I found that the more I knew about myself, my people, and our traditions, the more real my work became.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Mor’Art is an Afrocentric Collection of Cultural Art. I mainly specialize in acrylic painting. I can create custom pieces on wood, canvas, walls, or anything else that’ll hold paint.
I have managed to build a presence and a clientele base. I am extremely proud of where I am now as a creative, knowing that the best is still yet to come!
Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
I am also a Private Skills coach and Professional Indoor Soccer player who has played for the Dallas Sidekicks, Mesquite Outlaws, and currently the Florida Tropics. I have also represented the USA Men’s team at the National/International levels.
