Today we’d like to introduce you to Wendy Scroggins.
Wendy started in fashion over 5 years ago when she began producing fast-fashion dresses and other fashion products for retailers around the world. She was able to build a successful fast fashion brand which was sold in several countries. After becoming a bride herself, both her and her husband decided to move in to the bridal industry where they created a line of accessories for brides. This brand grew quickly and Wendy and her husband Jared decided to incorporate wedding gowns in to the business, as Wendy has years of experience in making dresses. Together they built a collection of beautiful and unique dresses as well as building a dreamy storefront to showcase it in. The Elizabeth Lee Bridal Boutique is one of a kind from the dresses to the French antique furnishings, creating a space for brides to see their dreams come to reality. Whether the bride is choosing a dress from the Elizabeth Lee collection, or Wendy doing a custom sketch dress for her, she will always get exactly what she wants. Wendy’s heart is that every bride feels special and like she is the most beautiful bride in the world, on her special day.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
There were definitely some ups and downs in the process. My successful brand experienced significant road bumps when some of the countries the brand was mostly sold in, experienced geopolitical issues making it impossible to export fashion products in to them. This is what led to refocusing locally, where I have made a home with my husband Jared. Our bridal boutique is just a few miles down the road from where we live. Without those complex international trade barriers, I would not have been compelled to build the Elizabeth Lee brand, which is the jewel of any of my endeavors. Sometimes road blocks are huge blessings in disguise!

Elizabeth Lee is a going to be a very different bridal boutique in that there really are no limits in what we are able to achieve. Unlike most other bridal salons, Elizabeth Lee makes the majority of the dresses sold our store. That means that if there is a dress that a bride likes, but would prefer a different neckline, color, train, sleeve, illusion… you get the picture… all of these can be changed when we make the dress. If there is a really unique dress that a bride just can’t seem to find anywhere, she can tell Wendy what her dream dress is, and I will sketch it out and Elizabeth Lee can make it! We are a true custom dress fashion house. In addition, Elizabeth lee has unique, handmade headpieces and accessories. Our collection is one of the largest if not the largest in DFW.
What were you like growing up?
I grew up in rural China in a village in the 80’s and 90’s. I grew up extremely poor with no running water, electricity, and actually had dirt floors. When I got old enough to go to school, my family moved me to a town where there were schools. I was able to learn and study hard and climb up an extremely competitive academic ladder. When I graduated high school, I scored high enough on my entrance exams that I was able to attend and then graduate from one of the best law schools in all of China. I then went on to work on my masters in Dallas before returning to work in Shanghai and other regions of China. This is all before marrying my longtime friend Jared and then ultimately settling back in Dallas.

- Our dresses range from $1,200 to around $6,000.
- Our average dress is around $2,000.
- All of our accessories are very fairly priced. Most of our veils are $200 or under.
