Today we’d like to introduce you to Wesley Riddle.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I am a Filmmaker, actor, and drummer… I’m an entertainer. Yea, really that’s the bulk of why I do what I do.
Please tell us about your art.
Like I said I am an entertainer, the way I convey my art is typically visually. Even while playing drums with my band Sons of Kitsch (reverbnation.com/sonsofkitsch) I actively try to engage with the audience and give them something visceral and emotional to take home.
I like my art to make people feel something.
As a Filmmaker I am often the Director of Photography for the in-house films of my company Team TeamWork Productions LLC (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCdb0vWbxe2oAHSAfoiILqeA) as well as editor and electric. It’s one of the most rewarding things to show the films I work on!
Even better that my wife Molly Mckee is one of my business partners and often a writer, director, and actor on our films.
What do you think about conditions for artists today? Has life become easier or harder for artists in recent years? What can cities like ours do to encourage and help art and artists thrive?
It is rough. I mean thankfully I have a decent “joe” job that doesn’t suck my soul and is supportive of my artistic endeavors. But that said without that job I wouldn’t be able to be a part of a number of the projects I am a part of.
What can be done is actually really simple, everyone just ggetsup and go out to support something. Be it a local theatre production, a music show, or an independent film premier. Just buy a ticket and go! It’s not usually very expensive. There’s almost always booze (often free, Thanks again Tito’s for sponsoring the AND BREATHE launch party)! And it helps support the community.
