Today we’d like to introduce you to Wesley Woods.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Wesley. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I always say that my parents love and support me too much! They really allowed my siblings and me the opportunity to become who we wanted to be- while loving and offering us advice along the way.
I grew up on a ranch and during the summer months, my brothers and I were forbidden to be inside the house. She had a dinner bell on the back porch and would ring it when it was time to come home- if we needed water, “turn on the water hose.” I spent a lot of time exploring my parents 300-acre property, physically- running, climbing, splashing around in pounds and emotionally/mentally always curious, questioning and day-dreaming.
My older brother is an avid hunter and fisherman. He played football at SMU before being drafted to the Patriots, then to the Cowboys and ending his career with the Chiefs. My younger brother played basketball at Texas A&M- Commerce and is involved with his church, mission trips, youth fellowship and his family of four.
I graduated high school and went exploring, I had to. I was coming to terms with the person I was and wanted to be and needed time to find myself, my purpose and my passions. It has lead me to comedy stages and hosting various events, appearances at gay pride across the country, theatrical work and gay porn- to name a few.
I’ve always been the kind of person to do what I felt called to do without fear of other’s opinions, it’s part of what made my parents special, the ability to teach us individualism while still supporting and loving others.
I recently retired from pornography and celebrated four years in the adult entertainment industry in October. During that time I’ve, “arguably had the most successful four-year run of any performer in history” – AVN. I had no idea what I would experience and what I was getting myself into, but I knew before I got into the industry I wanted to inform everyone in my family and have a conversation around my new career path if needed. My mother was the first I called and when I told her I was getting into porn she told me to think it through, trust my gut, they’d love and support me through anything and most importantly to “keep it classy!”
My stage name, “Wesley Woods” is a homage to where I grew up. “Wesley” is the “main street” in Greenville and growing up in the country or “sticks,” “Woods” seemed like a natural fit. I was actually driving around Greenville with my mother trying to come up with a stage name. She really liked the name, Wesley Woods and suggested I google it to make sure no other star had the name. We noticed a church camp by the same name and figured that was a sign from God and a star was born.
Has it been a smooth road?
If your road is smooth to where you’re going, it’s safe to assume many others have taken it, it has become common ground. I live life off the beaten path. A smooth road indicates (to me) that you haven’t lived, possibly little life experiences and I find value in those that go their own way.
There’s a few sayings in my family that I hold close to my heart and that help me when the road gets a lil bumpy, “life can’t always be lived on the mountain tops, it sometimes must been endured in the valleys” and “if you wanna make God laugh, tell him your plans.”
So, although we like to feel in control and we like the idea of safety by being cautious, it’s a lie.
Live loud, live boldly and live with purpose!
What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc. What are you most proud of? What sets you apart from others?
I hope to be viewed as your crazy best friend. Like, if you pooped your pants, I’d poop mine with you so you didn’t feel bad.
I’m comfortable with myself and try to be vulnerable and honest with others- we are all a little different and we all have slightly different stories, but we all want to been seen, heard and loved.
I hear you offer, loads of laughs and love.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I love Texas, especially Dallas! DFW is and always will be, “home.”
