Meet Whitney Bowman

Today we’d like to introduce you to Whitney Bowman.

Whitney, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I have enjoyed photography since I was young. Probably since 3rd grade. I believe photos are so important. I started my business in 2015 and have grown it into what it is today. There have been a lot of people that have believed in me and pushed me along the way.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I don’t think a business can be on a smooth road, right?! As a mom, there has been that struggle of juggling it all. Making sure I make time for my business, my kids, my husband, my dogs, the house. Plus, I work two days a week for my dad’s business.

Sometimes it can get frustrating planning out shoots just to have them get rescheduled or have no interest in mini shoots. Then there’s the trying to figure out social media and how to get your name out there more. I have been fortunate to have a lot of word of mouth business.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
I started my business because I enjoy photography and giving people photos they will cherish forever. The people are my main focus, which is why I don’t use a lot of props. I feel like I specialize in simplicity, which also crosses over in my editing. I’m proud of that. My clients understand that I do things with less and they appreciate that as much as I do. I have always said, “I want to be the photographer that I would hire.”

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
My wonderful customer service has definitely been most important to me from the start. I want my customers to feel like I appreciate them so much because I do, and I want them to love their photos forever. I am also full service, meaning the experience does not end with me sending over a gallery of images. No. The last step is getting a package of prints in their hands. These photos need to be printed and enjoyed outside of the computer.
