Today we’d like to introduce you to Whitney Davis.
Whitney, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Well, after getting laid off in a position in which I found myself for the first time in my life! Not sure as to where or what I wanted to do with my life and so my boyfriend said to me, do something YOU WANT TO DO, which is different from having to do something you don’t want to or kind of want to because you have to you know? And so, I thought about what I LOVED to do and it was, is creating moments, memories and then graphics. So, I had to think of something, away in which I can incorporate them both and I got it! Event and Wedding Planning, that has a little boutique of business needs with graphics and so I looked up Event & Wedding Planning, to see that most planners don’t have certifications, it’s not necessary but I wanted to stand out, show that my craft was of integrity and so I went through Penn Foster to get my ABC Wedding Planning Certification.
Months in, we found out we were pregnant, excited but I knew this could possibly pose as a problem with me getting my certification and so I pushed myself in hyper action, completing my certification three months prior to my expected DOC. Which was great because God knew that I would need to focus on this pregnancy at the beginning because it was INTENSE! I had the severest form of morning sickness and stay between the bed and the bathroom in the first few months. Seven months into our pregnancy, we had our baby shower where my boyfriend became my fiancé’, he proposed at our shower! I said yes, of course, and a week later, we were at the courthouse, married! And months later, our daughter was born! Now, it was time to plan my first event under my new name, my business name, Whitney Davis Planning, I’ve been a model since 12 and so it was only right that I did a fashion show as my first event, we created “The Era” Fashion Experience, that showcased some of our era’s best models, designers, boutiques, entertainment and more! It was truly an experience that we had 4 shows under our belts, 2 Era Spring Editions and 2 Era Fall Editions. In between, I did baby showers, weddings, birthday parties, business needs, and graphic work. We are still going strong these days, I’ve help to brand over a hundred local businesses and companies with my graphics.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has definitely NOT been smooth, we’ve dealt with having some days where the struggle was real and the business was harming us more than helping, where work was EXTREMELY slow and bad reviews from clients but we kept going because I had a purpose in to why I chose this field and had to mustard through, and we did!

Whitney Davis Planning is known for the majority of my graphics at this time because that was a constant, however, we have planning services for events and all occasions! Business management services to help start-up your new business, branding help, graphic design services and so much more! You can think of Whitney Davis Planning as your one-stop-shop! And we pride ourselves on being budget-friendly! You deserve a quality experience at a great rate! And I work with one’s budget, and so I have pricing in which I won’t budge on but for the most part I’m willing to negotiate rates at times and haven’t seen anything like what I do.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
We would do family outings and it was to what was Wet N’ Wild at the time and my mom would pack food, fruits, drinks, etc. and we’d be up there for hours with our cousins and etc. and just have fun and enjoy each other, that would have to be the best times in my life!
