Having spent 20 years selling services to the legal markets, Wilene received a book from her manager of the staffing agency where she was employed. The book was written by author and First Lady of Radio in Houston, Texas Dayna Steele, “Rock to the Top, What I Learned About Success from the World’s Greatest Rock Stars.” “I loved the book and immediately pick up the phone to ask if we could work together.” She didn’t know Dayna but she had a passion to help others build their business and now she could work on building hers.
In October 2008, Wilene and Dayna began working together to book speaking engagements for Dayna and WCD Enterprises was born. After several years, she moved back to her home town of Dallas, Texas to help others grow their businesses and support friends that had a failing business that needed a boost.
She continues to do what she loves, building business, supporting others and having fun with a new product line called Phonetics World www.phoneticsworld.com.
A dream and bucket list item would be to make the magazine cover with the title “Making Millionaires Out of Multi-Millions of People.”
Has it been a smooth road?
I opened my first business WCD Enterprises as the stock market crashed in 2008, the largest point drop in any single day in history. Everything seemed to flow until all of the CEO’s and highly paid executives could not find comparable paying positions and became consultants and industry leaders. It seemed like, “everyone became a speaker.” Unfortunately, many changes occurred in the speaking marketplace with so many industry specialist coaching and training, podcasts and free information, it was getting difficult to maintain the speaking agency.
I continually reminded myself of the countless business owners before me that had struggled through unfavorable market turns and came out successful.
I never stopped pursuing my passions and helping others to do the same.
Being a business owner has been the most rewarding and terrifying experience. I wouldn’t have it any other way!
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the WCD Enterprises story. Tell us more about the business.
WCD Enterprises is a Global Speaker Agency. WCD and its affiliates, agents and partners are responsible for promotion, advertising, marketing and direct sales based in the Training, Speaking and Professional Development Industry. We are working together to create more programs of interest and addressing current issues in the marketplace in unique, experiential ways. WCD has 25 years’ experience in the industry, keeping up with social media and the fast-paced corporate environment! We are always adding speakers and presentations that fit the industry and market need. Recently, because of the current workplace shootings, we are now representing Carol Cambridge a workplace violence expert. We are always keeping up with the trends on training and consulting to the need of our ever changing world, economy and trends. Our company motto is “Booking Exceptional Talent is Easy with WCD!”

We live in a non-responsive, hurried world and it is important to us that our speakers feel supported and meeting professionals receive the best customer service and communication. Mostly that we are easy to work with and you can trust us.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
The speaking industry has grown due to the need for more training and consulting around the global and economic climate. There is still much to do in this industry and every industry to weigh out those that are in it “just” for the money and those that truly care about supporting the industry as a whole.
I believe we’ve seen the worst of it from the market crash to an influx of thousands of new programs in the speaking space. However, I believe that now the need for training and consulting is bigger than it ever has been before
It’s hard to imagine life as it was just 30 years ago, without the technology and technical capabilities. As the world is transforming we face more personal and professional challenges, from pandemics, violent extremism and other disasters to conflicts and growing instability. The need for guidance and direction from those who have lived through those challenges are here to support those that need the answers to today’s questions.
Knowledge truly is power. Hope is the lifeline to humanity.
