Hi William, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
I arrived from Havana, Cuba in 2010 to explore the many opportunities to continue my cigar profession. I have been a curator of the fine art of making Cuban cigars my entire adult life living in Cuba while working for the famous House of Partagas, so when I moved here with my family I immediately began working for another company before starting my very own William’s Cigars.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I had to be very patient learning how business works here in the USA. I worked for another company learning very much about the business aspect of running a company and always fine-tuning my cigar craftsmanship but now, I saw the importance of networking for more business. The road has not always been smooth, with my very limited English I had to not only run my business but connect with other trustworthy professionals that were bilingual and that would assist in the growth of my business. From communication challenges to learning how to operate a small business to knowing which clients to work private events for all provided challenges to me but with the right team, I have managed to successfully arrive to where I am today.
As you know, we’re big fans of Williams Cigars. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
William’s Cigars is a full-run cigar retail store and manufacturer servicing in capacities of wholesale to retail for those that order from us and a direct-to-consumer retail storefront as well. We specialize in creating over 50 original cigar blends that we proudly curate to match our customers’ needs. We have the very best organic cigars in all areas of mild, medium, full-body, other specially flavored cigars in vanilla, pina colada, chocolate, and cafe espresso.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts, or blogs that help you do your best?
We’ve use various payment apps, from Venmo, Cashapp to Apple Square to allow customers to pay for our cigars when on location that all tie into our business structure. We have our digital creative marketing team at Creative Juice Online that handles the rest, constantly marketing our business and we have seen substantial growth since teaming up.
