Meet William Weisiger of Ten50 BBQ

Today we’d like to introduce you to William Weisiger.

William, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’ve always been incredibly passionate about barbecue, but it wasn’t something I thought I could pursue as a career. Although I took a different path earlier in life, my obsession with barbecue never quite went away. I began smoking barbecue for my friends and family, which then led me to join the team at Ten50 BBQ a few years later and I’ve never looked back. I’ve been in the industry for over five years now.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Although our concept, Ten50 BBQ, has been successful in Richardson, there are a few drawbacks to being with a Dallas-based restaurant in such a prevalent dining bubble – especially with all of the good barbecue places around. However, it’s helpful to have competitors of such high-caliber to keep us on our barbecue game.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Ten50 BBQ – what should we know?
Ten50 BBQ was built to provide guests with a true Texas barbeque experience. Our team prides itself on selecting premium products that are sourced locally (when available) and takes time to prepare each dish with care. We smoke all of our meats for up to 12 – 14 hours and make all of our side dishes and desserts in the house from scratch.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I was born and raised in Dallas, so I was naturally able to experience good barbecue a great deal at an early age. My grandfather and great uncle fueled my passion, and they were the ones who taught me how to smoke meat. Those two, along with countless other friends and family members who continuously showed me support on my journey to become a pitmaster. I owe them all my career for that!
