Meet Wintana Takeleign

Today we’d like to introduce you to Wintana Takeleign.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Wintana. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I was born and raised in Ethiopia. I came to the United States when I was 13, it was a whole new world for me, full of opportunities. Both of my parents were business owners and growing up watching them inspired me to be the CEO of my self. Makeup was something I enjoyed ever since I was little. During middle school, I used to bring some of my mom’s makeup to school and would practice on my friends haha I remember it like it was yesterday.

After high school, I started doing makeup for free, just to get my feet wet. Therefore I was recognized for my work. Afterward, I gave myself some goals, and with lots of hard work Now I am the owner of GLOWRIOULS LASHES, I also work with lots of people in the same field, I worked with many TV shows, I am currently working with a TV show called ”The Krystyn Enem Show”. Every time I see my work, it lets me know that I am doing what I am meant for. I am extremely grateful for where my business is now. I’ve prayed a lot and worked so hard to get to where I am and will keep working hard to get to where I want to be.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has not been smooth of course, as a young woman telling your whole family that you didn’t want to go to college and wanted to make something for yourself wasn’t easy. I won’t blame them for that because half of my family has their bachelor’s/ master’s degrees and are doctors, teachers by profession. Like I mentioned earlier both of my parents were business owners, you might ask me why would they not want you to follow their steps? Well, this is why being in the business isn’t as easy as it looks, especially when you are a young woman. It has its own ups and downs. They didn’t want me to take that risk and give up with college. However, I have always followed my own desires. My parents soon realized how focused and passionate I was with my work, they became more supportive of me. I appreciate them for that.

“You have brains in your head.
You have feet in your shoes.
You can steer yourself any direction
you choose. You’re on your own.
And you know what you know.
And YOU are the one who’ll
decide where to go…”
– Theodor Seuss Geisel

And the other thing is struggling to be taken seriously. As a young female entrepreneur/ makeup artist, earning respect has been a struggle, To overcome this I had to be myself and I have had to learn to build my confidence and overcome my negative self-talk.

There are going to be people who will try to undercut your success along the way, but you just need to focus on the work and don’t let people sidetrack you. You only need yourself to bring out the best.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I am a makeup artist. My specialty is a soft glam look, I am a believer in classic beauty, the skin should look perfect and look like skin. I also focus on teaching them through the process of my makeup application.

Apart from being a makeup and beauty artist, I am known for my Glow-rious lashes. Glow-rious lashes are well removable that add just the right amount of length and fullness while perfectly blending in with your natural lash line. Our product can last up to 20 wears with the proper care and all of our products are free of any harmful chemical treatment.

I’m so proud of how much my business has grown. I am extremely grateful for where my business is now. I’m still learning and growing every single day. I’m also working on something big, so excited to see where this life journey will take me, I can’t wait to share it with you guys on the next.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I’m not lucky, you have no idea how much I’ve prayed haha. I don’t believe in luck, I believe in God and his blessings. I never gave up or lost faith, I’m blessed with everything I need. I am working hard towards everything I want. There is always time for everything. Be patient.
