Meet Ximena Reyes of Beauty Muse in Grapevine

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ximena Reyes.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I was a little over the age of 11 when I started to discover how much fun playing with makeup was for me. I was experimenting a little at a time but it wasn’t until I reached the age of 15 that I started to discover my love for makeup. Everyone always complimented me on how I glammed myself up and how good I was at it. Of course, looking back now, I laugh because I obviously did it to my best ability at that age. There truly was no YouTube or much of Instagram bloggers but hey, everyone loved it and you have to start somewhere!

I always remember spending hours in the bathroom getting ready for family parties, friends birthday parties, Quinceañeras, even trips to Walmart. Makeup was my thing and I never went anywhere if I wasn’t glammed.
About a year later, I started a hobby for fun. I was modeling Quinceañera dresses at expos here in Dallas as well as open houses. My favorite part was always getting my makeup done!

As I got closer to being 17, I no longer wanted to continue modeling dresses. My mom was always with me at every event I had and she would help out the team that was in charge of hair and makeup. I wanted to do something different so I started helping out as well. It was fun and a great learning experience.

I was still in high school so I wasn’t fully dedicated to makeup. It was still a just for fun thing and something I enjoyed doing. I never truly saw it as a career.

I was 18 and focused on enjoying my teenage years with friends. I graduated from high school and decided to continue my education. I was aiming to major in business management as it seemed like a safer choice. I had completely put makeup off. My true concern was having fun.

After a full year at Tarrant County Community College, I decided to move further away and take a step forward into becoming closer to getting my degree.

At the time, my mom decided to give makeup a go and start our own Hair & Makeup company now called Beauty Muse. I didn’t want to be involved as much due to school and because I just didn’t see a future in makeup.

The business became more and more popular so she started to need my help just about every weekend. Somehow and someway makeup always found its way back to me.

I was 20 years old when I fully discovered my passion for makeup. Shortly after, I decided to take time off of school to pursue makeup.

I’m 22 now and know I made the right decision in doing what I love.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has been a smooth enough journey to where I can not complain where makeup has taken me in my career thus far.

A personal struggle in being a Makeup Artist has been giving up my social life. My work is full-time during the weekends when everyone else is off. I have to pass on outings because I have to be well-rested for my clients. My work sometimes starts as early as 3 am. I take my job seriously and I know that all my hard work and dedication will soon pay off!

Please tell us more about your work, what do you specialize in and most proud of.
I am a full-time Makeup Artist. I specialize in getting you to look your absolute best radiant self for your special day whether it’s a full, soft or natural glam. I offer these makeup services at the comfort of your home.
I am highly requested for the glams I do on my Quinceañeras.

I believe what sets me aside from the rest is the dedication that I carry as well as the love and responsibility that I have for this. Your special day is just as important to me as it is for you. I want to be able to leave my clients speechless at what I did to enhance their beauty.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I am taking everything in day by day.
As of right now, I would like to expand my clientele, my work, followers and focus more on my social media.
For future plans, I want to work towards getting my name out there and be noticed by big makeup brands, models, and celebrities.
