Xyrene, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I am an immigrant, born and raised in the Philippines. Ever since I was a kid, I always felt insecure about my physical appearance because in Southeast Asia, having a fair complexion is considered beautiful. If you’re not fair-skinned, you don’t fit the beauty standard. When I was 22 years old, I moved to Abu Dhabi, UAE, where I got a customer service job and interacted with people of different nationalities and backgrounds. That experience gave me a new perspective on the idea of “beauty standards”, that we are all created differently, yet each person has a unique beauty. I learned that we should accept and appreciate ourselves regardless of what society says.
Fast forward to 2018, I moved to Texas, USA, and was fortunate enough to attend beauty school. Later, I was able to open my own spa. My main goal is not just to enhance my clients’ superficial beauty, but to create a space where everyone feels welcomed, heard, and validated , no matter what “beauty” means to them.
For me, it’s more than selling products or services. I created C.H.I.C. Aesthetics (Cozy Hideaway in the City) where every treatment, product, and technology is designed to provide a luxurious experience for everyone. To me, luxury is not about a brand or a price tag, it’s about creating an unforgettable experience that makes people feel truly good about themselves.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting a business is never easy. Every business owner faces challenges, but for me, the hardest has been dealing with self-doubt.
There are days when I question myself and feel like giving up. When that happens, I turn to prayer, read books, and listen to podcasts that lift me up and remind me to keep going.
Two phrases I hold on to are: “What’s within is so without” (from Happy Pocket Full of Money) and “I will do my best and let God do the rest.” This has been my motto since I was young, and it helps me remember that if I give my best and trust God, things will work out in the right time.

What I’m most proud of is that CHIC Aesthetics stays true to its mission: to create a space where beauty is defined by each individual, not by society’s standards. We want every client to leave not only looking better but feeling uplifted, cared for, and confident.
What are your plans for the future?
As an individual, I truly believe in the power of NOW. The most important time for me is the present moment. Whenever people ask me where I see myself five years from now, I honestly don’t have a clear answer. What I do know is that what I do right now will shape my future.
I will consistently work with my “why”, the reason I built CHIC Aesthetics, guiding every step I take. With hard work, determination, and faith, I believe I will be successful. The future for me and CHIC Aesthetics is clear, we will keep growing, improving, and helping more people feel confident and cared for.
