Meet Yasmin Francis

Today we’re excited to introduce you to Yasmin Francis. We were introduced to them by one of our community members and content partners – Roxanne Carne. Check out our conversation with Yasmin below.

Yasmin, thanks for taking the time to share your story with us today. So, let’s start with your personal story – what can you share with us?
My life has been filled with constant change and reinvention. I first came to the US from St Lucia when I was 19 and had to reinvent myself to assimilate into a new culture and a new life. Then I joined the Army when I was 22. I again had to reinvent myself to assimilate into a new culture and lifestyle. While in the military I left the enlisted ranks and became an officer. Once again, I had to reinvent myself. After 20 years of military life I had yet another reinvention to go through; that form military life to civilian life. It took me a while to find my footing and decide what I wanted to do next in life. Then it dawned upon me that after so much change and reinvention that I could help others who were going through or about to go through similar change in their lives. This path of guiding others is my latest reinvention of myself. This is why I have chosen to become a life coach. With my E3  program, I am now able to help others navigate life change and the reinvention necessary to successfully go through these changes.

Thanks for sharing that with us. How about obstacles and struggles – has it been a smooth road?
No, it has not been a smooth road. The challenges that I faced in each transition were much of the same, lack of mentorship, support, and guidance. I believe that having these along the way would have made the journey a bit smoother. Not that any journey is without it’s struggles but these factors make them more bearable because one is not bearing the burdens or traveling alone. That is what my blueprint in my coaching series provides for my present and future clients.

We’d love to hear more about your experience working with Roxanne Carne.
Roxanne Carne is the CEO of Roxanne Carne | Personal Stylist. She helps women who are in transition dress for who they are becoming. Roxanne was one of three stylists that I reached out to on Thumbtack. After interviewing and connecting with all 3 stylists, Roxanne was the obvious choice for me. Her vision for her company was like my vision, helping others through transition. Transition can take on so many forms and we were both on the same trajectory but in different veins working towards helping individuals during change and being part of their support system. She herself had also had to reinvent herself for her changes in life, which made our commonality and bond that much deeper as I was able to relate to her story. Branding was particularly important to me and this is where Roxanne was a pivotal part of this process. She helped with translating who I was becoming on the inside to reflect on the outside. Colors, style, professionalism, and class. Her style curation has also helped my confidence soar as I continue to build not only my professional brand but also my personal brand.

What role has risk taking played in your life or career?
Risk Taking has been an important part in both my life and career. When I was younger, I aired more on the side of jumping into the deep end of the pool and figuring it out later or as I went along. Now being a little more seasoned in life and business, while risk is still part of how I operate, it is more calculated and intentional.
