Today we’d like to introduce you to Yessenia Perez.
Hi Yessenia, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
It all started after I found out I was pregnant with my second daughter. I was freshly new to this mom’s life and like many, I was beyond scared. But I refused to lose faith. I was taught that the average millionaire has seven sources of income and I wanted to invest into something I was going to genuinely love doing. Something that later on would hopefully bring a residual income to fund my kid’s future… Yayo’s Treats (originally Yayo’s Treat Towers) was later founded May 2020. It unexpectedly took off the same week and I spent Mother’s Day making and learning how to put together floral/edible arrangement towers, which I later delivered all around Dallas. It was just up from there.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Not at all. I put such a high expectation for myself and my business that when I didn’t have consistent orders I felt as if I had failed as a business owner. I had to remind myself to trust the process; what is meant for me will come and I just had to push harder. I was more or less managing my time accordingly between my two other businesses, my daughters, and my growing clientele.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Aside from Yayo’s Treats, I also specialize in maternity and portfolio photography. I originally started with nature and landscapes, I’m a travel junkie, so I used it to my advantage to connect with a few gift shop owners in different states and sell them my images. I’m mostly proud of how I handled and overcame every obstacle that was thrown my way. Life for me was far from easy and many times, I questioned why I was here, I think what sets me apart is how diverse I am and remaining positive no matter what happens. I refuse to quit, the drive and motivation I have to accomplish everything I set out to do is scary at times lol. People tend to say I do “everything”, which I take as a compliment. I’m involved in stocks, a bit of promo, a mentor at Big brothers big sisters, photographer, treat maker, at one point, I was even a manager for a dancehall artist lol I strongly believe in widening your horizon and venturing in as many things as your able to handle.
What matters most to you? Why?
My daughters. They brought this fire out in me that no one can put out. I didn’t find a purpose until I became a mom and everything else just aligned accordingly after that.
