Today we’d like to introduce you to Zack Abaunza.
Zack, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Growing up I was extremely overweight and unhealthy. Most of my dinners involved eating fast food on the couch with my gameboy in hand. After high school, I decided to take control of my health and began lifting weights and spending my time learning more about training and nutrition. After several years of personal training clients, I began working at a mom and pop supplement retailer in South Florida where I managed for one year and further built my confidence and experience.
In November 2015 I was offered an opportunity to Manager the 5 Star Nutrition in North Austin TX “Cedar Park”. I successfully built that store for ten months where I was promoted to the District Manager of the Austin and San Antonio markets. After running the ATX and SATX markets from 2016- 2019 I’ve now relocated to Dallas TX in July of 2019 to take on the DFW market.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My biggest struggle I’ve faced was in August of 2017 when I had some major health issues and spent 20 days in the hospital and lost 44lbs due to medical malpractice. I didn’t work for nearly three months which heavily impacted the business and we closed one of our ATX stores as a result.

I’m proud to say 5SN does things very different than what you would expect to experience at a retail supplement store.
