Meet Zebulan Van Pelt of Venture Painting

Today we’d like to introduce you to Zebulan Van Pelt.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I grew up on a farm outside of Dannebrog, NE, a small town with a population of about 300 people. Growing up on a farm instilled in me values that I still live by today and I have implemented those into my business as well. Hard Work, Integrity, & Timeliness to name a few of the most important ones in my opinion.

In 2011 I moved to Colorado, where I began my journey in the construction industry. I started out in flooring and roofing before finding my passion in painting. Flooring was hard on my knees and I am too top heavy to be on roofs everyday! Painting was fun and relatively safe and there weren’t many good painters so I saw an opportunity to improve the industry. It was also in Colorado that I met my wife, who’s been my biggest supporter and partner in life and business.

When we moved to Texas, it felt like home right away. I fell in love with the people and their pride in this great state. Texans have a way of doing everything with heart, and that’s exactly how we approach our work too. We planted our roots here in Dallas and built Venture Painting from the ground up: transforming homes, building relationships, and putting our stamp on the community one project at a time.

What started as a small venture with big dreams has grown into a company known for bringing warmth, style, and lasting quality to homes across the North Dallas area. Every project is personal to us. It’s not just about painting walls, it’s about helping people fall in love with their homes again.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Those first couple years of being a new business owner were challenging, but I knew that was going to be the case when I started. The biggest challenges were building a name in a brand new city and finding truly amazing painters who matched our standards for quality and customer service.

Those early years were all about patience and persistence, earning trust one project at a time and building a team of painters that met my standards. We’re proud to have built a team that not only delivers exceptional work but genuinely cares about the homes and the people they serve. Our talented painters are the heart of Venture Painting and the reason we stand out in our community today.

Looking back, those challenges shaped Venture Painting into the company it is today, One that is committed, consistent, and proud to serve Texas homeowners.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We specialize in residential interior and exterior repaints along with fence staining and cabinet refinishing. And that is what we are going to stick to because that’s what we know best! What sets us apart is that we are professionals and we stay in our lane. We aren’t trying to be a jack of all trades, we want to be master painters.

We show up on time and I would put our communication skills up against anyones. We are clean and efficient which makes us fast. No one wants a contractor in their home for weeks so we make sure we are clear on details upfront so we can be in and out quickly leaving you with a new home you truly love.

I’m most proud of the team of painters we have now and how much of a joy they are to work with. Our customers love them and that’s why we get most of our work from repeat clients and referrals.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up I was kind of shy until I entered High school and that’s when I gained a lot of confidence through sports. I was lucky to go to a small school so I was able to participate in all sports and that’s what I really enjoyed. I loved basketball and baseball and hanging out with friends. I’ve always been very organized, very competitive, love to laugh and make people laugh, and I’ve always loved puzzles and numbers. I think that’s why I like being a business owner because it’s a lot of problem solving.
