Michael, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
The 2026 World Cup. I just applied for tickets and are keeping my fingers crossed to catch a match or two in Dallas and another in Mexico. Outside of beer, soccer is my passion and the World Cup is the pinnacle of it all.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi. I’m Michael Peticolas and I started the Peticolas Brewing Company in the Dallas Design District 13 years ago. I was the lone employee in year one, which meant that I brewed all the beer myself and was also solely responsible for kegging, delivering and repping it throughout year one. Fortunately we’ve grown since then and are currently a team of 20 fun, friendly down to earth brewers delivering world class passion in a glass.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
The world can never tell you who you have to be. You are free to make that decision yourself. But in the spirit of providing some background, I’m a fifth generation Texas trial attorney and focused on the practice of law prior to opening the brewery.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Stick with your dream of having fun. Fun with family and friends is more important than work. There’s always a work-life balance of course, but having fun and staying mentally healthy will serve you well throughout your life.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes. There’s only one me. And being authentic and genuine is of the utmost importance to me. When you pretend you’re something you’re not, issues inevitably arise. The beauty of telling the truth and being yourself means you don’t ever have to remember ‘lies’ or ever ‘act’ in a certain way.

Absolutely. I give the best for myself. The praise isn’t needed. If it follows, great. But giving your best to get praise seems backwards to me. Give your best and you’re setting yourself up for praise to follow.
