Noelle Overturf of Park Hill Dr on Life, Lessons & Legacy

Noelle Overturf shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Noelle, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: When was the last time you felt true joy?
Honestly, I experienced true joy today. Whether the days are good or hard, I still find joy — a deep, steady joy that comes from my relationship with Jesus Christ. I’m someone who feels things intensely, and that’s been both a blessing and a challenge. That sensitivity has given me a deep well of empathy for others, but it has also meant walking through seasons of depression from time to time. When sadness tries to creep in, I can still feel that underlining joy because of what Scripture reminds me in Ephesians 2:8–9 — that ‘it’s by God’s grace that we’re saved through faith, and this doesn’t come from us but is God’s gift, not the result of anything we’ve done, so none of us can boast.’ That truth gives me such peace and fulfillment.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Nöelle Overturf and my business name is Nöelle Grace Designs. I’m a small-town girl from Glen Rose, Texas, now living in Fort Worth with my husband, Zach, and our two young children. I actually started out in the corporate world, but in 2017 I decided to take a leap of faith and step into entrepreneurship with my husband. Around that time, I picked up a paintbrush again — just for fun at first — and it slowly turned into something so much bigger than I imagined.

I’ve loved creating since I was a little girl, but after becoming a mom, my art took on new meaning. I started sharing my paintings on Instagram as a kind of visual diary, and it’s been incredible to see how it’s grown into a full-time passion and brand. Right now, everything I paint is completely original — I work on one piece at a time, pouring my heart and energy into each canvas. I specialize in mixed media abstract art, known for bold brushstrokes, layered textures, and unique color combinations. No two pieces are ever alike, and that individuality is something I really value.

What makes my work special, I think, is the intention behind it. My goal is to spread joy through color and to use the gifts God has given me to bring beauty and light into people’s homes. Two years ago I opened my own fine art gallery on Park Hill Drive in Fort Worth, where I paint and release new collections often. It’s a dream come true to create in a space that feels so personal and connected to my community.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
From the very start, my parents have recognized me for who I truly am and supported me through every chapter of my life, both the highs and the lows. They’ve always believed in my best qualities, and that faith has given me tremendous confidence since I was a little girl.

My husband, Zach, stepped into that role when we got married. He’s recognized my strengths, gently pushed me to step out of my comfort zone in every job I’ve had, and cheered me on the whole way. Since we first met, we’ve shared in each other’s dreams and goals — supporting one another, loving each other, and speaking the hard truths when they’re needed.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I’d reach out to the recent college grad I once was and tell her, “It’s going to be okay! Just wait and see what God is going to do!” To give you a brief backstory, I studied Nutrition & Dietetics in college and was supposed to continue my education after graduation by attending a dietetic internship program to achieve my masters. The only program I was counting on suddenly inactivated right before my college graduation because the Director of the program was moving out of state and they were not going to fill the position soon enough to start it back up. My plans for the future were completely upended by a one-sentence email from the University, and my world felt like it had flipped upside down. By that point, it was too late to apply anywhere else, and I felt completely lost.

That experience sent me down a tough path where I began tying my sense of worth to my work and constantly feeling like I wasn’t good enough for any job. But looking back now, I can see that God was protecting me and shaping me for something better — something I was truly meant for, in His timing. After many closed doors, I eventually landed some incredible job opportunities that wouldn’t have been possible if the internship hadn’t inactivated when it did. Years later, those opportunities gave me the freedom to explore abstract painting, which ultimately led me to running my own store — a true dream come true.

Going through all of those ups and downs helped me develop a deep sense of gratitude. I hold tightly to Jeremiah 29:11, which says, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” I try to keep this verse at the forefront of my mind. God is always at work, and His timing is always perfect.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What do you believe is true but cannot prove?
That the dress from 2015 — the one everyone debated as either gold and white or black and blue — is definitely black and blue.

I still laugh about it because my daughter and I both saw black and blue instantly, while my husband and son were convinced it was white and gold.

To this day, I just don’t get it. LOL

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
If I knew I only had ten years left, the first thing I’d probably do is ditch my phone… or at least hide it for 23 hours a day. Then I’d have to get creative with communication — sending handwritten notes, signaling with smoke, or maybe even training a carrier pigeon. lol
