I got started in the fitness business back in 1988. Back then, Personal Training was largely unregulated and you did not have to be certified, you just need to look the part. I worked at a local gym for 2 years where I worked my way up to “Head Instructor”. I left there in 1990 to go to work at Gold’s Gym. I barely made enough money to get by, but I learned a lot. In 1994, I decided to get certified and become an independent trainer. After a few months of driving from gym to gym and paying gym fees at several gyms, just so I could train people, I decided to open up my own private gym. Read more>>

Growing up, one of my most vivid memories of my mother was of her with her camera hanging around her neck. I have been an entrepreneur since I was 19. I don’t know anything else. I love having an idea and growing it into something fun, amazing and profitable. I started as a behind the chair working hairstylist and makeup artist in my own salon. After 22 years and hundreds of clients I realized that many of the people had the same complaints about how to “show up.” What to wear when? How to dress for their body? How to network and promote themselves? How to communicate effectively? The list went on and on. Read more>>

My father worked for HKS, a big Dallas architectural firm. As a teenager, I took a construction job at the company and began to experiment with architectural photography. It was there that I learned the technical aspects of photography, which provided a firm foundation for the next phase of my career. I grew bored of the buildings pretty quickly, and gravitated towards people – a transition that has been far more rewarding that I could’ve imagined. Read more>>

In 2003, I decided to leave my large traditional medical practice to become part of a small movement of doctors that were committing to move away from accepting health insurance to place the focus back on the patient. This model is often referred to as direct primary care, subscription-based healthcare, and concierge care to name a few. There were several variations of how this movement was evolving but I felt trying to focus on the self-employed, small companies, and uninsured was an untapped market. Read more>>
