Nydia Lavish of McKinney on Life, Lessons & Legacy

Nydia Lavish shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Nydia, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
I’ve been really enjoying nature. I love to visit local parks with ponds or lakes and feed the ducks and turtles. It’s so relaxing and rewarding to see other creatures that God created, especially when they’re in their environment thriving. I love animals, about 3 months ago I saved a baby Bobcat that had gotten separated from her mother. I was able to get her relocated somewhere safe. It was definitely a dream come true.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Nydia Lavish. I’m a mother of two my son Hampton passed away on 7-11-2023 at 16 years old from a rare cancer called Rhabdomyosarcoma. It’s still unreal. I have a 14 year old daughter named Liyah, she’s my Apple. I also have 4 French bulldogs, known as the Rich Frenchie Gang. I’m an Entrepreneur, I have an online business named “The Pickle DILLer’s”. It took off in 2020 during Covid. I also make inspirational, high vibrational & motivational music. After the passing of my SunShine Hampton. I allowed my grief to unlock gifts inside of me that I didn’t know I had. Turing my pain into my passion is such a flex. Music is my therapy as well as sharing my story on my social media platforms.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
The part of me that’s served its purpose is the old version of me. Now, the new version of Nydia must now step into the Spotlight. I battled a rare disease called “Myasthenia Gravis” for 13 years. I died 3 times. After going into remission and being healed from taking 13 pills a day and having to get a Plasma exchange every other week for 6 years. I beat the odds. I won. After overcoming a life altering illness, couldn’t nothing break me or make me not believe in myself. Losing my son to cancer was a hole in my chest that I thought would never heal.
Grieving lasts a lifetime, there will never be a moment when I don’t miss my child. It’s so many others going through what I’ve been through or about to go through something.
My tests and trials weren’t just for me but for others as well. We’re supposed to let our light shine even in darkness, that’s when it shines the most. Now, I’m ready to share my story and encourage others that they to can overcome whatever comes their way, just don’t stop believing, stay positive & never give up on yourself.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes, the time that I wanted to give up was recent. It’s like wanting and waiting for something that you’ve been very persistent & determined about getting, only for it to seem as if nothing is happening. It feels like when you’re on the verge of your breakthrough and your manifestations, it’s like time stops and the little motion you’ve had here and there comes to a complete stop. It leaves you wondering if you’re even on the right path. That’s when you know that you’re on the right path. Things seem as if they have to fall apart to come together.
It’s scary stepping into the unknown and only allowing your faith to guide you. I’m glad that giving up isn’t an option for me, it’s nothing for me to go back to from my past. When you give up, you’re actually going back to your past. I’ve learnt my lessons from my past and even when it’s silent and no movement at all, I just stand and allow what I’m seeking to flow to me. It works out for me every time, especially when it seems impossible.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes, I’m the same person on my public platforms. I like me and I love me even more.
I’m wonderfully made and I’m past the opinions of others. Many people masks themselves because they fear being judged or seen as different, especially in today’s society. I take pride in being Nydia also known as “$upaRich” because it’s so inspiring to be yourself. That’s when you can walk in your God given purpose by just being you. You unlock so much magic inside of you. I’m very colorful and I don’t mind expressing myself true authentic self, some love it and some dislike it either way it goes, everyone must respect it because it takes much courage to be who you truly are.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I’ve entered a new timeline of being able to do what I love, what I was born to do, most importantly my God given purpose. I enjoy having my own successful business as an entrepreneur. I’m ready to walk in my purpose not only to inspire others, spread love to others, and motivate others through my music and my very own testimonies but to stand in my purpose and get paid handsomely well for doing so. We’re created to experience our heaven on earth.
Once you break free from the chains of programming, you can live and thrive in your promise land.
