We’re looking forward to introducing you to Paula Goforth. Check out our conversation below.
Paula, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
My family will always be my greatest source of joy outside of work. Even with our busy lives, I treasure the moments we carve out to connect. Sometimes it’s as simple as checking in with each other through daily texts or offering encouragement when someone needs a little extra support. Other times it’s gathering for dinner or spending intentional, quality time together. Those moments—big or small—mean everything to me and keep me grounded and grateful.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Paula Goforth with Paula Goforth Photography. I have been photographing the most amazing clients for the past 15 years. I specialize in Maternity, Newborn, and Families. I love everything about my job. It is very rewarding when I meet and capture each family in whatever journey they are on. I love that I can set myself apart by offering a unique experience with styling their session with my curated client closet. I have a beautiful studio in the DFW area where I have created it to by branding and style that sets me apart and a place where clients can come and feel right at home.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
I believe my family saw the potential in me long before I fully recognized it myself. I’ve always had a creative side and a deep love for capturing memories—not just for me, but for my loved ones. As our family grew and I became a Nana my beautiful daughters encouraged me to take that passion more seriously and pursue photography in a bigger way. Their belief in me gave me the courage to step forward into what I do today. Photography has since become so much more than a hobby—it’s a calling. Preserving memories for others brings me endless joy, especially when I see the excitement and emotion on their faces as they view their images for the first time.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I would tell my younger self: Believe in yourself, and don’t be afraid to reach for your dreams. The journey won’t always be easy—there will be challenges and painful moments along the way—but don’t let them stop you. Pick yourself up, keep going, and trust the process. The reward at the end is worth every step.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
The value I protect most is genuine connection. Whether it’s with my family or with the clients who step into my studio, I believe in treating people with kindness, respect, and care. My goal is always to create a space where others feel seen, valued, and comfortable—because that’s when the most authentic and meaningful moments happen. At the end of the day, it’s those relationships and connections that matter most, both in life and in photography.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
This is a tough question, because I think it’s natural for all of us to hope for praise and encouragement from others. We want to know that what we’re doing matters. But over time, I’ve learned that not everyone expresses praise in the same way—or at all. Sometimes it’s not verbal, but a small gesture, a kind word shared behind your back that eventually makes its way to you, or simply the quiet appreciation you may never fully see.
At the end of the day, my focus is on giving my best regardless of recognition. What matters most to me is that people walk away knowing I cared for them deeply—through my actions, my work, and the way I carry myself. That is the kind of “praise” that lasts.
