Today we’d like to introduce you to 2HENDRIXX.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Well, my name is Apollo Rarri. My brother that I do my music with, his name’s (Gemini) and we go by the group name of “2HENDRIXX.” It’s pretty funny because we actually started off serving at a red lobster together as two totally separate entities. It wasn’t until about two weeks after that that we became a duo group and actually started working on songs literally day in and day out trying to get our chemistry together (which we naturally already just seemed to have). We would wake up early in the mornings and be sitting out front of our apartments just listening to beats and freestyling, feeding off of each other’s energy and flow pattern until we started to craft something we could vibe with.
For the past three years, it’s just been me and Gemini. Through all of the absolute highs and the absolute lows, it’s always been us having each other‘s back when it’s all said and done. We were serving, so we’ve been through the ringer of paying our dues just to attain this dream we have. From standing at the back of the line waiting for a specific club promoter to walk out so we can have the chance to meet them so we could incorporate our musical talents and capabilities to their promotion formula, to dealing with record labels and record label owners who had employees sideswiping us and “shelfing” us. Manipulative shady managers trying to run pyramid schemes on artists we supplied for showcases. All the way to sleeping in the car and waking up to go serve and once we made crazy tips for the day, go put that money down on studio time and work on the song we wrote just bring it back to the restaurant/bar we were serving at and or the promotion group we were working with for a weekend event.
It’s so crazy how everything works out, and we are so blessed to have it work out exactly how it has because where everything is now, it’s so cohesive & perfectly aligned, it just flows effortlessly. You honestly hear the reflection of it in each one of our songs like “Cartier” from us, or “conceited” or one of our hottest singles “Mook” or “Exotic” you hear that chemistry and that dynamic we have established. It’s unlike anything you have heard from a duo rap group if it’s one thing we have definitely learned is that our chemistry is everything. Through all that has tried to separate us from doing our music and hinder us we mainly learned only us two are going to make sure that we put ourselves in the most positive, opportunistic positions that we feel we need for us as an entity. Ever since we had that understanding and made that pact everything has been going crazy in the best way, and we’re just thankful for the steps and the process and the “long game” and are looking forward and have so many more hits ,here within the months to come for everyone to speculate and enjoy.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road has been everything but smooth for the most part haha. But that’s honestly the beauty of the whole trip and the beauty of arriving to the destination. We had one manager, we were dealing with him for a few months trying to feel him out, who is trying to swindle us into a contract (which we were inclined to think) because he was so pushy and so urgent about it and that was the one thing from all of these labels and different people from these different companies we have met saying is that how do we know so much about what we’re asking as far as the benefits for us and our creative growth. We had another manager who was egotistical and TRIED to manipulate us into doing the work and tried to have us thinking it was ok. The list goes on and on and on.
At the peak of us club promoting doing a lot of groundwork, going to different clubs and bars, talking to different DJs And making connections and relationships that we actually have to this day. Running plays with absolutely no money in our pockets, but those that were around us would’ve never known because of how much we were always hustling and on the go. My brother and I have fought each other because I thought this label would help and he thought this person could help and we ended up splitting up as a group until the next day we hashed it out and realized the bigger picture of what we were blessed with and that’s what made us realize how much we need to have each other’s back to make this happen for each other.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Well my brother Gemini, he actually owns his own trucking company. Also, we’re both licensed catastrophe adjusters. And me, I recently became a student of the actor (Adrian R’Mante) (from suite life of Zack and Cody) And have picked up acting due to a one on one audition that I actually had with him some months ago.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Humbleness and just being able to fully utilize and capitalize on what we’ve been blessed with and what we do with the positions that we are striving for and get into and spreading that out generationally however we can.
