Rising Stars: Meet Adrian Johnston

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adrian Johnston.

Hi Adrian, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
Music has always been my passion, and after working in the corporate world after college, I finally took the plunge into hitting the road full-time back in 2013 and have never looked back! I’ve been lucky to have great opportunities working with some of the best in the business and was truly blessed by some of those people who took a chance to work with a “no-namer”, ha! I’ve had an amazing band to support every show over the years, and just truly went from hitting the pavement old-school style and playing open mic nights to being able to play to bigger crowds!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I don’t think anything in the music industry is considered “smooth,” BUT I would say that it’s been a natural progression. When the gigs got tougher, a single on the radio would do better! Long nights and weekends on the road would be exhausting, and back then, I was juggling a full-time job to go back to on Mondays, but it would lead to another opportunity along the way. It’s always a rollercoaster ride, but it’s part of the fun!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I think as an artist; I am letting the music do the talking and letting the best song win when it comes to putting together a project, or single, etc. When it comes to what I am most proud of, I have to say the way my family and friends have supported me and my music and how we have truly grown this together. It’s the only reason I have been able to keep going this long and now to juggle being a wife and mom – it’s because of my huge support system! I know my fans KNOW me and will support me, whether I’m giving them new music or not! They have been so patient with me over the past few years, and I am so appreciative of it!

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
I think my favorite childhood memory, as it related to music, is when I went to my first concert in Toronto, ON to see Shania Twain… Not only was she AMAZING and someone I truly looked up to, but when she came out through the crowd, she saw me and pointed because we had on matching leopard/fur outfits!
