Today we’d like to introduce you to Adrion Bradley.
Hi Adrion, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started actually baking cakes back in 2012. I got pregnant my first year of college so I dropped out & took up some classes at Michaels craft store. Just to do something while I couldn’t work & so much. Along side of my mother who had a party planning event out in Mesquite. After a year or so I stopped & worked retail while I focused on school. Flash forward to 2018, I had my second son. I was in a really bad relationship, it was so much abuse & just so draining on me, my whole pregnancy was beyond stressful. My son was born with a lifetime disability due from the stress on me. I went from job to job & with two kids life was so hard. June 6th 2019 just when I thought I couldn’t take life anymore I lost my bestfriend, my grandmother “Georgia”. I was at my lowest of lows after that. I was actually making baby shower cakes when my mother & sister came home with the devastating news. Depression set in along with anxiety & I was really ready to give up. Then she visited me in my dreams, red birds begin to appear everywhere I would turn & I knew she was with me still. September 27th 2019, I got my life together. Purchased my LLC & named my business “Georgia’s Gal Cakes” ever since then I never gave up on myself. It took me a lot of failures, a lot of give ups & get backs, a lot of tears, a lot of heartbreaks & til this day I have days where it’s so hard to even get out of bed, but I look at my kids, I have my grandmothers name tattooed on me & the. I check my emails & God continues to send me more & more clientele. I know she’s up there telling him to continue to shed light on me. So I can’t give up. So here I am. Adrion Bradley baker & owner of “Georgia’s Gal Cakes” serving Houston, Dallas, & also my hometown of Alexandria, Louisiana.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The hardest struggle to me would have to be unsatisfied customers. I work alone so each cake I take my time on & really pour my all into them so to hear someone say you know “I don’t like it” really hurts but I’m also learning you can’t please everyone.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in celebration cakes of all sorts. Baby showers, weddings, birthdays etc. I’ve recently made Houston Texas very own Chase B’s birthday cake. Everything is made from scratch. Made upon order. Handmade detailing etc. a lot of time & focus. Really proud of how they all come out.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I work alone. Lol. Absolutely no team. Also a nursing student. A mom. I don’t mention myself or personal life on my business account so when they come pick up they have no idea for one what I look like or how young I am. It’s always funny to hear the comments “omg your so young” or “wow I finally get to see your face & meet you”. Working from home also allows my curious 2 year old to walk outside when cakes get picked up so then there’s the “omg he’s so cute”.
