Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexandra Castle.
Alexandra, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My journey began with a gift that came full circle. I had given my beloved grandmother a monochrome heart drawing, and to my surprise, she chose to frame it and hang it up in her office. This seemingly small gesture symbolizes the broader scope of my career as an artist. For me, art was a passion that allowed me to show those I love how much they mean to me. Although I never thought my creativity would become a career, this unexpected path has become a blessing beyond even my highest hopes.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
If you scroll through my social pages, you’ll notice a sudden shift. What started with intricate linework became a mosaic of nature-inspired pieces bursting with color. Behind the scenes, however, was a personal struggle that necessitated change. After developing a hand injury, I could no longer create the intricate line pattern artwork I was known for. Suddenly, I needed to shift my artistic style into techniques and mediums that were softer on my hands. Through the uncertainty of change, however, my work has blossomed into a new form representative of my personal growth through adversity.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Through my work, I strive to capture emotion in its purest form. From the deep connection of a mother lion and her cubs to the loving bond of equine souls, my artwork is heavily inspired by the animal kingdom. Nature and the creatures that call it home have always given me a sense of peace and purpose. With each piece, I let their connection, grace, and love shine through.
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
I believe in the power of connectivity to nurture lifelong learning. We live in special times where endless libraries of information are at our fingertips. Centuries of knowledge, just one search away. Through YouTube and Skillshare, I have been able to continue learning and growing each day. I feel incredibly grateful for the community of fellow artists, mentors, and teachers across these platforms.
