Today we’d like to introduce you to Allicia Washington-White.
Hi Allicia, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Originally from Milwaukee, I quickly realized there was a significant need to provide connections, share resources, and establish a support system for transplants living in the North Texas suburbs. This realization inspired me to cultivate a community dedicated to supporting individuals who, like myself, found themselves feeling lost and overwhelmed in a new and unfamiliar environment. This was my first major move and there were many times I’d wished for some sort of a guide.
I designed this website to serve as a mini-toolkit; it’s your unofficial, official start-up guide. There’s so much to do here and while most things are searchable, this website covers the basics — schools, DMV, and events to connect you to others living in the area.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I am still building this professional network and Texas is hugs, so sometimes it easy to feel overlooked. I had to find my niche within hundreds of other niches to segment out a growing population of transplants who need support.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m an event curator! I love connecting people and providing memorable experiences.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I’ve had several business ventures, but have now combined those passions into creating New 2 North Texas. Once I relocated, I found myself asking questions about what actually fulfills me and its providing a platform to connect.
