Today we’d like to introduce you to Alonso Rappa.
Hi Alonso, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I did not grow up in the industry. I am from El Paso, Texas, and acting was not something that felt immediately accessible or practical where I was raised. For a long time, it was more of a quiet pull than a clear plan. I began pursuing acting seriously in my late teen years, and once I committed, I approached it with full focus and discipline.
At college in New Mexico, my education extended beyond the classroom. While continuing my studies, I was actively working on student films, short films, and independent projects, gaining hands-on experience and learning how sets function in real time. That early exposure helped shape my work ethic and grounded me in the process rather than the outcome.
Momentum began to build as I started booking more substantial television and film roles and was trusted with increasingly complex material. Projects like Dark Winds and Sovereign, which stars Nick Offerman, marked important turning points in my career. Being on sets of that scale confirmed that I could hold my own in demanding professional environments.
Most recently, I booked Prime Video’s Joseph of Egypt, where I play Benjamin. That role feels like another meaningful step forward and a reflection of the steady progression I have been working toward.
At this stage, my focus is on longevity. I continue to audition consistently while also developing my own material as a writer and producer. I still feel like I am in the early chapters, but I am proud of how intentionally I have built my career and excited about what lies ahead.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely has not been a perfectly smooth road, but I see that as part of the process. Acting is full of peaks and pauses, and one of the biggest challenges has been learning to trust the timing even when things feel quiet on the surface. There were stretches where growth was happening internally long before it showed up externally.
Another challenge was learning patience and perspective early on. Rejection is constant in this industry, and at first it can feel personal. Over time, I learned to separate my self worth from outcomes and focus instead on the work itself. That shift changed everything for me.
Starting without industry connections meant I had to build momentum gradually. In hindsight, that was a gift. It forced me to develop discipline, consistency, and a strong sense of identity as an actor. Each step forward felt earned, and each setback became a lesson rather than a stopping point.
Overall, I am grateful for the road being imperfect. The challenges helped shape my mindset and prepared me to handle opportunities when they came. Looking back, every phase served a purpose, and I feel better equipped because of it.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
am a screen actor drawn to grounded, emotionally complex characters. Much of my work lives in drama and psychological storytelling, where subtlety and restraint are key. I am often trusted with roles that feel real and lived in, characters navigating pressure, identity, or internal conflict.
I am most proud of building my career with intention. Projects like Dark Winds and Sovereign, which stars Nick Offerman, marked important steps forward, and most recently I played Benjamin in Prime Video’s Joseph of Egypt. Each role has challenged me and helped sharpen my approach.
What sets me apart is my long-term mindset. I care deeply about craft, collaboration, and longevity. I also work as a writer and producer, which strengthens my understanding of story and informs the way I approach every performance.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
I have had a few key people who have played a major role in my growth. Early on, when I knew very little about the industry, my mentor John Forbes was instrumental. He helped me understand the business, sharpen my approach, and build a foundation rooted in discipline and honesty. He continues to be someone I learn from and lean on.
My manager, Katrina, has also been a tremendous source of support. She believes in my long-term vision and consistently advocates for me while helping me stay focused and strategic about the choices I make.
On a personal level, my siblings deserve a lot of credit. They understand the industry, care deeply about the work, and are often my readers for taped auditions. Their support keeps me grounded and helps me stay prepared and confident going into every opportunity.
That combination of mentorship, advocacy, and family support has been essential to my journey.
