Today we’d like to introduce you to Alysha Washington.
Alysha, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started back in 2020 with my business. I wanted something that would celebrate women’s bodies and allow them to feel sensual in their skin while also helping with weight loss. Being able to meet different women, educate them on the history of waistbeads, and help them feel confident in their skin is amazing. Our bodies go through so many changes with hormones and children. As women, we’re constantly told how we should look but never taught how to embrace our bodies. I just want to be the person who helps someone see the beauty in their imperfections.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No. Being a single mom, starting during Covid, all while trying to buy a house has been no walk in the park. I’ve had to take a step back from my business more than once. No one talks about all the costs to manage a business or how hard it is to manage it all by yourself.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I work as an insurance sales agent and adjuster for both p&c and health/life. I’m most proud of the fact that no matter what happens, I continue to persevere. Life has handed me many setbacks this year, and I kept pushing. I’m not just surviving, I’m thriving.
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I believe taking risks, is always about the reward. You have to always weigh out the pros and cons. The biggest risk I’ve ever taken is doing a surrogacy. This year, I attempted to help a family have a baby. While the pregnancy was unsuccessful and I miscarried, I do still believe that you should go after what you believe. I don’t have any regrets.
