Hi Alyson , it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started event planning & design as a hobby and something to do while being a stay at home mom for the first 18 months of my daughter’s life. She is my reason. As I began to perfect my craft in treats & decor. My daughter’s first birthday was coming up and I decided to showcase my talents to my family and friends then in September 2019. Of course my family was impressed and encouraged me to turn my hobbies into a business. Thats when
Pretty Party Decor DFW was born. I chose the name because every time I would share my work I would often hear “that is so pretty” .To me that is an ultimate compliment and I immediately felt the word Pretty & Decor were the perfect words to describe and elevate my business culture and platform. In the event and confectionery space there is room for everyone but you have to stand out remain consistent and follow trends that align with your business and ideal clientele. I have made changes and navigated through different party planning and design sectors.Now I believe I have found my niche.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I also work a 9-5 in corporate healthcare and also a full time single mom with an active child. We are dancing and cheering year round. But Harper is what started this so I can only keep pushing. I remain involved and sometime sleepless nights are almost always. But I love it. Have I wanted to quit? YES..but we get it done. I say we because my family is my “crew” and they are happy to help..sometimes hahaha. So I always say I clock out of my 9-5 be a mama from 5-9 and pour into PPDDfw from 9-1,2,3am
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I work in HR Healthcare and as a workforce development specialist. I am most proud of the families we serve and the children that I am advocating for when introducing individuals to the workforce in pediatric healthcare.
Any big plans?
Wow, my future is closer than I think. I am taking on a new sister for Pretty Party Decor and will be venturing to the Wedding side. I want to create relationships with my couples that will last their entire planning process even their kids first birthdays I WANT TO DECORATE.. I remember when my sister got married and I did the engagement party, the bachelorette, rehearsal etc and then I thought I can do this for others. The luxury of working with one business that can do it all. Very rare
