Rising Stars: Meet Anita Hawkins of Prosper Tx

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anita Hawkins

Anita, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I am a little girl that was raised in a 2 parent middle class home, private school but molested from the time I was in kindergarten. As a result of my innocence being stolen, I am the 13 year old teenager who had to abort her first child, only to birth a second child at 15. I am a young woman with a diploma, no college degree but lifeskills, know how, push and drive to enroll in cosmetology school. I am the obedient servant of God that led me to go door to before even obtaining my license to beautify women that had no transportation and sometimes could not pay me for services. I am a domestic abuse success story, I am a mother of two children that have taught me the true meaning of loving another human being, sacrifice, and learning that my life manual; His Word is what I need to stand on. I stand before you, a #dynamiKwoman (Don’t Yield to Negative Attitudes or Mediocracy, but are Inspired by the Kingdom) of God, no longer ashamed of my past as it has brought me to where I am today and molded me for my future. I am a woman that knows who she is. where she is going & @owningmyshyt. Through trials, tribulations, and adversity God has the final say. When you put Christ first, you don’t allow the words of others to define you, simply put, they DON’T KNOW YOUR STORY..

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I remember the first time I stood before a room of about 200 eyeballs glaring at me waiting to hear me speak about me, my story, my life, my ups and downs, spiritual and non spiritual moments, my purpose (FindOneReasonToSmile), my passion (Women and children that are victims of domestic violence), why I love the Lord, trust and stand on His word.
With my nerves half way shocked, trembling before the spotlight hit me, I almost talked myself out of being who God called me to be and doing what HE said do.
I said to myself, first off young lady you aren’t a public Speaker; you’re a writer. Talk about, want to pee your pants moment! What in the h-e double hockey sticks are you thinking?
They won’t listen to you, what will you talk about, what do you have besides you, because you didn’t attend a prestigious college, you don’t have a degree, You’re just a woman with a story like everyone else.
But God said different! ALL YOU NEED IS WITHIN YOU! You have lived your life on purpose & people see the God in you because you do touch the lives of others. You will walk authentically in your purpose into the destined path created just for you.
You will share your PAIN with others so they get a true authentic understanding of your PURPOSE. So, In 2011 I made a conscious decision to stand up inside myself, knowing that some of your worst moments become your best moments as they are apart of the journey.
Purpose gives you unprecedented energy. If you major in a field you’re truly interested in, you will give it the effort, attention and enthusiasm that translates into success. Stellar performance, in any field, is what translates into career success. You don’t have to study English to be a writer, you don’t have to study business to be a consultant, and you don’t have to study political science to go into government. The real world doesn’t care about your degree as much as your work ethic and attitude.
I started out as a volunteer for causes that I was passionate about. These additions on my resume are so much more powerful than a major because they tell that you are motivated, passionate, and involved. Because even with a degree you’re not qualified without THE EXPERIENCE.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a model, author, certified nutrition specialist, entrepreneur, philanthropist, and founder of Bald Boss Ladies—a movement dedicated to empowering women dealing with medical-grade hair loss. Through advocacy, education, and representation, I help women embrace their baldness with confidence and pride. My work centers on self-acceptance, wellness, and creating spaces where women can feel seen, celebrated, and supported.

Beyond Bald Boss Ladies, I am deeply passionate about health and wellness. As a certified nutrition specialist, I help people make informed choices about food, supplements, juicing, and managing food allergies and intolerances. My personal health journey led me to explore the power of nutrition, and now I use my expertise to help others take control of their well-being.

Entrepreneurship has always been in my DNA. From taking over my grandmother’s hair salon as a teen mom to building multiple business ventures, I’ve learned that success comes from resilience, adaptability, and a willingness to take risks. One of my biggest business lessons came from my franchise investment in Fresh Healthy Café. At the time, the market wasn’t ready for healthy eating, and while it wasn’t the best investment, it became a teachable moment. Now, I educate others on how to create their own blueprint for developing franchises.

What sets me apart is my ability to turn experiences—both triumphs and challenges—into opportunities to uplift others. Whether through my books, mentorship, or philanthropic efforts, I believe in using my platform to inspire change. I’ve been honored to receive multiple Lifetime Achievement Awards for Service from both President Barack Obama and President Joe Biden, and my nonprofit, Find One Reason to Smile, continues to support survivors of domestic abuse.

I am most proud of the impact I’ve made in helping others transform their lives—whether it’s a woman embracing her beauty despite hair loss, an individual making healthier choices, or a community coming together to support those in need. Everything I do is rooted in empowerment, and I’m just getting started.

What matters most to you?
What matters most to me is empowerment—helping people step into their full potential, embrace their truth, and live confidently. Whether it’s through Bald Boss Ladies, my nutrition work, philanthropy, or entrepreneurship, my goal is always to uplift, educate, and inspire.
I know what it’s like to face adversity, to feel like the odds are stacked against you, and to have to fight for self-acceptance. That’s why I’m so passionate about creating spaces where people—especially women—feel seen and valued. Seeing someone transform, whether by embracing their bald beauty, taking control of their health, or realizing their worth, is what drives me.
Empowerment is not just about personal success; it’s about using your journey to help others rise. That’s why I give back through mentorship, service, and education. If I can help someone believe in themselves, make healthier choices, or rewrite their narrative, then I know I’m fulfilling my purpose.
