Rising Stars: Meet Anna Rotenberry

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anna Rotenberry.

Anna Rotenberry

Hi Anna, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I studied Social Work in college and received my undergrad and graduate degrees in the field. As a kid, I was a total art nerd. Constantly painting and competing in art competitions. At 11, I asked Santa for home design software, and my love of the art of home began. Having always had a passion for art and design, I have used that passion throughout my life as a side business and a means of creative expression. While living in Austin and helping my husband through Law School, I refurnished antiques and art and sold them online and as a young professional, I painted and took on side design projects in my spare time.

In 2020, our second child was given a special needs diagnosis, and our world was turned upside down. Being stuck at home during the pandemic, I began to think through how to combine my passion and education to better serve my son. I redesigned our home during the pandemic to meet his proprioceptive needs while also containing all of the therapy equipment in our home in a way that felt clean, functional, meaningful, and beautiful. I soon took this on as my new mission, and in early 2023, Bouchelle Designs, LLC was born.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Honestly, I have been accepted with open arms in the metroplex, and my business has far exceeded my original expectations. Families have been so kind and easy to work with. I have so enjoyed being welcomed into their homes getting to know them, and really understand their needs and how their home can better serve them.

As with any creative endeavor, each project has its challenges, but I find them energizing. I consider it such a gift to combine my passions in a way that serves families and is inclusive of the special needs community. It is so nice to be validated as a designer and also as more than just a special needs parent.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in combining modern design concepts with classic pieces in a way that breathes both life and longevity to design. I love getting to know my clients- what do they enjoy? What meaningful heirlooms do they own? What makes them feel most at peace? What colors bring about their favorite memories? Then, I find ways to incorporate those elements in the style of design that they feel they most identify with and enjoy. No two people are just alike and for that reason, I believe that no two designs should be the same.

A good interior designer knows their wheelhouse, and they stick to it. A great designer can play within multiple styles and find a way to make their client’s home feel like THEM.

Alright, so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you, or support you?
I love collaboration. I currently work with 3 different contractors regularly to generate designs that are beautiful and cost-effective. I am always open to meeting new professionals in the interior design world, and I so enjoy finding ways to combining our ideas and inspiration to make something new.
