Today we’d like to introduce you to Annie Harris.
Hi Annie, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
As a child, I was always full of personality, very ambitious, very responsible, independent, and mature. Started working at 14, was a shift manager at a restaurant by 17, joined the US Army at 18 to help reduce the cost of college. Life for me has been a whirlwind. I did everything I was told by the book in hopes of achieving the American dream and breaking generational curses. I went to college, graduated in 4 years with my Supply Chain Management degree in Business Administration. Got a good job right after college. Started making 6 figures at the age of 24. Was debt-free with amazing credit. I had married my high school sweetheart. Life is amazing. Or so it seemed. I had everything I wanted. A beautiful family, big house, nice car, no student loan debt, good savings, a great paying job with the best benefits. I was living the American dream. Until I realized how demanding and unfulfilling my job was. How unfair and short life really is. So, I set out to find my passion and beauty was always important to me. I self-taught myself to do a lot of different services, nails, volume lashes, and makeup. Enrolled in beauty school, and began performing services and growing my newfound business. Initially, I lacked the confidence I needed in my skills and work. However, with the help of the Pandemic. I was able to challenge my skills. Now I’m confident, licensed, and doing well growing my clientele. I’m finally doing what I love. I’m invested in real estate and have a few different sources of income. Life has taught me that it’s not about the money you make, the house you live in, or the car you drive. In life, we should focus on and find what makes us happy, and what’s freeing. I value my time soo much now that I’d rather take a pay cut and pursue my passions if it brings me peace and happiness. Life is short.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
A smooth road, absolutely not. Luckily, I developed my beauty skills easily and effortlessly. However, due to different experiences in life and in the corporate world my confidence had become damaged and it’s extremely hard to push yourself outside of your comfort zone when you lack confidence while being faced with the fear of the unknown. Wanting to leave a corporate career that’s secure for uncertainly was scary, and challenging, but necessary. I’m so glad I took a chance on myself.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a licensed cosmetologist. I can do it all. Anniedoesitall by name on Instagram. I specialize in creative acrylic nail freestyle services and eyelash extension services. That’s what I’m known for. I’m certified to do PMU services like Ombré brows (micro-shading). Makeup, and stitch braids. I’m most proud of putting my wants and desires first, and for challenging and taking a risk on myself. I’m set apart by my ability to offer a lot of quality services at reasonable prices and actually be good at them. I’m set apart because my personality alone is an experience. When you enter my place of business expect great hospitality and quality services.
Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
Always wear your mask! However, don’t let fear stop you or be an excuse not to move forward. No matter the times we live in, keep pressing forward towards your dreams. Do not let uncertainty and the unknown stop you.
