Today, we’d like to introduce you to Annika Hinton.
Hi Annika, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
At 26 years old, I am a proud mother to two wonderful boys, ages 4 and 1, and I serve as a preschool director. My journey as a mother has been deeply intertwined with my faith as an active Christian and my passion for supporting other moms through their motherhood journey.
After the birth of my first son, I faced a challenging period of postpartum depression. During this time, I found self-belonging in the pageant world. Competing in and winning the titles of Mrs. Texas and Mrs. United States gave me a platform to connect with and encourage other mothers experiencing similar struggles.
However, the birth of my second son brought a resurgence of postpartum depression. This experience reinforced my commitment to supporting other mothers, leading me to share my journey and insights on social media. Through my social media presence, I aim to educate parents on living intentional lives and teaching their children to be model citizens.
My goal is to create a supportive community for mothers, helping them navigate the challenges of motherhood with confidence and grace.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been a smooth road. Battling postpartum depression (PPD) for the first time after the birth of my eldest son was incredibly challenging. It felt like a dark tunnel with no end in sight. However, through time and support, I found the light at the end of that tunnel and began to heal.
Just as I started to feel like myself again, I faced another tough battle when my PPD resurfaced after the birth of my second son. This time, I felt even more defeated, as if all the progress I had made was slipping away. Despite these setbacks, I kept pushing through, determined to find strength and continue my journey.
These struggles have only deepened my commitment to helping other mothers feel supported and understood.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe you can tell us more about your work next?
I’d love to share more about my work! As a preschool director, I am dedicated to creating a nurturing and educational environment for young children. However, my passion for education extends beyond the classroom. I use my social media platform to teach and encourage parents to live intentional lives and raise their children to be model citizens.
On Instagram, I share educational content, personal stories, and practical tips to help parents navigate the complexities of motherhood and parenting. My focus is on promoting intentional living, which includes mindfulness, purposeful parenting, and fostering a supportive community. Through my posts and interactions, I aim to provide comfort, encouragement, and value for parents who may feel overwhelmed or isolated.
What sets me apart is my personal journey and the authenticity I bring to my platform. Having battled postpartum depression twice, I deeply understand the challenges many mothers face. I am most proud of my resilience and the ability to transform my struggles into a source of strength and inspiration for others.
My background in pageantry also sets me apart. These experiences have given me a unique platform to advocate for maternal mental health and support mothers on a broader scale. My goal is to create a positive and empowering space where parents feel seen, supported, and equipped to lead intentional and fulfilling lives.
What are your plans for the future?
My plans for the future center on continuing to grow and nurture my motherhood community. I am dedicated to expanding my reach on social media, providing even more resources, support, and encouragement for parents. I plan to create engaging content, including videos, personal stories, and teaching tips, to foster a deeper connection and provide valuable insights into intentional living and mindful parenting.
Additionally, I aim to collaborate with other experts in the field of maternal mental health and parenting to offer diverse perspectives and comprehensive support for my community. I am also exploring opportunities to host in-person events and workshops, creating a space for mothers to come together, share their experiences, and build lasting connections.
I also plan on continuing to create children’s devotionals, coloring books, and other great resources for parents of little ones! Ultimately, my goal is to create a thriving, supportive community where every mother feels understood, valued, and empowered. I look forward to the journey ahead and am excited about the positive impact we can make together.
