Rising Stars: Meet Anntreece Jones

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anntreece Jones.

Anntreece Jones

Hi Anntreece, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
A grass-rooted dream that turned into a reality is how Anntreece Jones Productions was birthed. Starting with church plays and the desire to go a step further outside of church and go into theatre was the first transition. Then came Covid 2020, which seemed to shut down a lot of businesses but allowed individuals around the world to tap into their most creative ideas and turn social media into a money-making machine. While I decided to go a different route and aim towards television for the world too on a different scale.

Little did I know the challenges that I would have to face by choosing this route. Financial setbacks, lack of funding, hardships, sacrifices, and most of all, the lack of support. A lot of people love to hear the happy side of things, but it’s the dark side of being an entrepreneur that truly builds the ability to combat the long-suffering and daily sacrifices to bring the dream to a reality. I’ve faced so many setbacks on this journey, and even in the midst of it all, I still manage to risk it all and enter film festivals around the world. I’ve won in over 60 festivals worldwide and won in over 100 categories collectively from them all. I call it unseen blessings. I would’ve never thought my TV pilot, which started as a stage play, would win in so many festivals around the world, but IT DID! And I couldn’t have done any of this without willing vessels who had the heart to act and trust me to develop them into the characters that I needed for them to be. Without pay, they sacrificed their time and invested personal time to pour into their characters and help bring these characters to life. Building something with little to no money has truly taught me that I can do all things through Christ, which strengthens me.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t been smooth. I’ve lost thousands of dollars trying to get my series filmed, but God has sustained me. I battled with the thought of suicide and just wanting to throw in the towel. I felt like everyone who said they would be by my side and help me push this thing to the finish line grew weary. The good thing is that I’m steady going no matter what. And my husband and my kids, even though they have taken a hit with me pursuing my dreams, they still love me through the process, and they have not abandoned me.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Being a writer, director, producer, and content creator has been one the most rewarding experiences. Creating content is an area that I feel I thrive in, especially coming from real-life experiences. Taking those experiences and putting them on paper to create powerful plays and films allows me to release a lot of hidden emotions, thoughts, and ideas onto paper. Becoming a director, I had A LOT to learn. Especially learning how to navigate being on set and creating an atmosphere of professionalism so that my actors and actresses could really focus on embodying their characters. As a director, I’ve learned that I can’t involve my personal feelings while dealing with my production team, actors, and actresses. All personal feelings go out the window while in director’s mode because I may have to correct, adjust, or remove individuals who may not fit my vision. It’s very important also as a film director that the vision must be carried out to my specifications. From the film crew down to the cast it’s my job to make sure all aspects of the film is carried out to my vision.

Being a producer hits hard because financing and making sure things are set in place so far as wardrobe, makeup, locations… etc. Are locked in place. The producer area for me is very rewarding once the project is completed and now, we have a product for the world to see. Manifesting a vision and watching is actually come to pass makes you feel so accomplished after facing all of the possible setbacks and overcoming them all. I believe what sets me apart from others is my ability to endure the hardships and keep going!! No matter how many times it may require me to go back to the drawing board.

How do you think about luck?
I wouldn’t call it luck… I would just say I’ve been blessed through the good and the bad.
