Rising Stars: Meet Ariel Henderson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ariel Henderson.

Hi Ariel, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
The courage to start my entrepreneurial journey started with tea parties that my grandmother would take me to. As a teenager, I was self-conscious but when I saw women coming together for a common purpose It sparked something in me. When my grandmother suddenly passed, Teatime with Nana came out of a very broken place. I was severely depressed and I couldn’t figure out how to heal from grief. So many wonderful moments were happening to me but I couldn’t enjoy it. But through uplifting other women who could relate helped me heal. I realized I wasn’t the only woman going through that type of pain. Over time I decided that my business would honor what I and so many other women lost.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
This journey has been everything but smooth lol. For years I felt unqualified to start a business because I didn’t finish college. I was very hard on myself, so when I started making handmade products, I had to learn how to be patient with the process of candle making. I had to develop confidence in what I was building because it was easier to give up and quit. But the best thing I could have done was to stick it out through the hard times.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I have a passion for motivating women and moms through storytelling or sharing life experiences. Empowerment should not be one-dimensional so I share through hosting tea parties, retreats, visual blogs, and handmade products that create lasting memories. My family inspires me to dream bigger. They believe in me when I am unsure or scared and encouraged me to dream anyway. I love helping people see the best in themselves. It is important to have someone holding the mirror so you can remember your reflection of greatness. I know how to take life’s hardships and experiences and turn them into something you shouldn’t be ashamed of. Wisdom comes through all lessons good or bad, but we decide how to apply it.

What do you think about luck?
I believe that everything that has happened in my life and business this far was not by accident. I would not be without the roadblocks, trying times, and victories. Without those experiences, I would not have known what I am capable of becoming and God gets the glory for that. For anyone who doesn’t see a point in what life is throwing your way, you are stronger than you have seen. Keep going through it to find out what you’re really made of and change your community with what you learned.
