Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashton Hooks.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
In 2016, a year after college, I was studying for the ASVAB to join the Air Force—until one phone call changed everything. My former football coach, Larry “Doc,” reached out, and that conversation shifted the entire course of my life.
Through him, I met Will Young, the owner of Krave Magazine and Weight to Wear. His words of encouragement opened my eyes to something bigger than myself—a path of purpose, creativity, and self-expression. That’s when I made the decision to pursue modeling and acting.
Early in my journey, I crossed paths with photographer Eric Ganison. He was the first professional who truly believed in me, helping me develop confidence and artistry in front of the camera. Through Eric, I met my now-manager Willie Johnson, who saw my potential and helped guide me to the next level.
In 2018, Willie took me to The Model and Talent Expo, a week-long event where top agents and managers from across the country gathered to discover new talent. At the end of that week, I was discovered by Dawn and George Landrum of Landrum Arts Agency.
By 2019, I began auditioning professionally for some of the biggest brands and streaming networks—Netflix, Hulu, Apple TV, and more. Each step along the way reminded me how one conversation, one person’s belief, and one leap of faith can completely transform a life.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road has definitely not been easy—honestly, it’s been one of the hardest yet most rewarding journeys of my life. For the first three years, I didn’t book a single job. I was working a regular job making around $1,200 a month, just trying to make ends meet while chasing something bigger than me.
I had to learn how to adapt to spontaneous auditions, often driving across state lines from Texas just for a few minutes in front of casting directors. There were countless “no’s,” moments of self-doubt, and seasons where support was limited and money was tight.
But through all of that, I developed resilience, patience, and a deeper faith in my purpose. Those struggles shaped me, not just as a model and actor—but as a man who knows that perseverance builds character and every setback is just preparation for the breakthrough ahead.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m an actor and model who’s passionate about storytelling through visual art and emotion. What I love most about what I do is that every project allows me to embody a different version of myself — to connect, inspire, and bring something real to life.
I’m most proud of being able to live the life I once spoke into existence. Every opportunity I’ve had — from campaigns to screen auditions — has given me unforgettable experiences and reminded me of how far faith and consistency can take you.
What sets me apart from others is my grit, resilience, and unwavering work ethic. I’m the type of person who shows up even when the odds are stacked against me. I believe in pushing through the unseen moments — because that’s where true growth and greatness are built.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
If there’s one thing I’d want readers to take away, it’s that your dreams are valid — even when they don’t make sense to everyone else. The journey may not always be easy, but every step, every “no,” and every detour is shaping you into who you’re meant to become.
I started with very little, but I held on to faith, discipline, and a belief that I could create the life I envisioned. No matter what you’re chasing, keep showing up. The consistency, the mindset, and the courage to keep going — that’s what truly separates you.
Your story matters. Keep writing it, even when the world tells you to stop.
