Rising Stars: Meet Brayan Morales

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brayan Morales.

Brayan, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I am originally from Guatemala, a third-world country. At the age of 7, my father decided to make the move to Dallas and I have been fortunate enough to call Dallas my home for the past 20 years. As the eldest son, I was tasked to be the example for my siblings – showing them that if I could reach my goals, so could they. Some of the goals I reached included being a part of the top 10% in my high school, graduating with an Associate’s degree from North Lake College to save money, and ultimately graduating from UNT with a Finance Degree in 2017.

Post-graduation, I started my professional career with a sales based, Business Development Role with Datalogic. Prior to that, I moved on to work for Thyssenkrupp Elevator as a New Installation sales rep. Unfortunately, after a month or so, I was furloughed due to COVID-19 and eventually I was let go. It was a very difficult time for me and the many others that were impacted by COVID.

After taking a step back to evaluate my career progression, I decided to pursue my passion of helping and networking with others. That led me to pursuing my mortgage loan originator license. I enjoyed working as an originator for 1 year but as rates started to increase, I figured it was time to explore the other side – Real Estate. Passing the state and national exams were not easy but my base knowledge in working with mortgages definitely helped. After 6 months of being in business as a Real Estate Salesperson, my top 3 goals are to stay on top of things, to make a name for myself and to help support my family.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I would say my journey has definitely not been easy and I have learned a great deal of lessons. As a new graduate, it is very important to stay optimistic but each person faces different challenges when you enter into the workforce. It becomes easy to doubt yourself and compare your life to others but the things that have helped me though these transition pains were keeping my faith in God and understanding that he had a bigger purpose for my life. I’d also like to mention my grandmother as well as she would always tell me to stay faithful.

My first position out of college involved cold calling all day. It was very unfulfilling to me.  I experienced a breakthrough in my time with Thyssenkrupp and I learned that I should be passionate about what I do. During COVID, losing the job I enjoyed was a major set-back. Times were very low with the crash of the stock market and to top things off, my car was even stolen. I can definitely say, that year humbled me and changed me all for the better. My perspective on life changed and I am thankful for my journey because without the lessons and struggles, I don’t think I would have developed to be the person that I am today. The losses were there, emotionally it was a dark time as nothing seemed to go my way. I was hopeful that I would get a breakthrough and here I am today, still standing along with my family, my close friends and just living life to the fullest while I get to help families. I don’t think it can get any better than that!

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a real estate professional in Dallas with a background in mortgage. I am known as someone who loves to network and talk with everyone. I am always willing to help when I can.

Career-wise, my most proud achievement has been getting a million-dollar sale in my first 6 months of real estate. Even taking the leap of faith to get into this industry (that has been tough on everyone) has been a great achievement as well. What sets me apart is I am transparent and go the extra mile for all of my clients. I am attentive and available for any questions they have.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out.
Yes, for people new to the industry, I would recommend having about 6 months of expenses saved up because you never know when you will sell your first home. Just put in the work and the rewards will come.

Also, if you are thinking about getting your license, start telling people you will get your license! After receive it, you will already know people who are wanting to buy or sell and they can be your top priorities.

The real estate world is so much different from what you read in the books. This career is not easy, you will have to put in the work. Social media does make it seem like it is easy but they don’t see the long drives, hours, and stress it brings. However, it is worth it when your clients thank you for helping them accomplish one of their biggest dreams.
