Today we’d like to introduce you to Brianna Ayala.
Hi Brianna, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Lux Sweets by Bri officially began in 2019, but my love for baking started long before that. From a young age, I was always in the kitchen baking for friends, family gatherings, and special occasions. What began as something I did for fun slowly turned into something much deeper.
At first, I viewed baking as a side hobby, a creative outlet I could enjoy outside of everyday life. Over time, it became a true passion. As a Taurus, I naturally enjoy channeling my creativity, challenging myself, and working with my hands, and baking became the perfect space for that. With each new order, I pushed myself to learn, improve, and step outside my comfort zone.
As my skills grew, so did the encouragement around me. Friends, family, and clients consistently urged me to take my work more seriously, especially as more people began to value not only the quality of my desserts, but the care and intention behind them. That support played a huge role in helping me believe in what I was building.
Over the years, I’ve participated in local pop-ups, expanded my knowledge across a wide range of baking techniques, and continued refining my craft. Today, I’m incredibly grateful for the generous following Lux Sweets by Bri has grown and for the many loyal, repeat clients who continue to support my work.
In addition to custom desserts, I also enjoy hosting cake sip-and-bake decorating classes throughout the DFW area. These classes are designed for all experience levels and allow me to share my love for baking while creating a fun, welcoming space for creativity and connection.
What started as a simple interest has evolved into a business rooted in passion, growth, and community and I’m excited to continue expanding, learning, and creating.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Like most small businesses, the journey hasn’t always been smooth. One of the biggest challenges has been learning how to balance time. Baking is a very detailed and lengthy process, and each order requires a high level of focus, creativity, and precision. Most weekends are filled with back-to-back orders, which means long hours, careful planning, and coordinating multiple pickups while maintaining consistency and quality.
There have been moments where the workload feels demanding, especially when trying to balance personal time with business responsibilities. However, these challenges have also taught me the importance of organization, boundaries, and growth. While it can be time-consuming, I feel incredibly blessed and grateful for the amount of business and support I receive. Every busy weekend is a reminder that people trust my work, and that makes all the long hours worth it.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in custom cakes, cupcakes, and a wide variety of handcrafted treats designed to feel personal and elevated. My work focuses on creating desserts that go beyond what you can find at a local grocery store from custom designs to an expansive list of flavors that allow clients to truly tailor their order to their vision and taste.
A lot of my clients also give me creative freedom, trusting me to bring their ideas to life in a way that feels unique and thoughtful. I’m known for my attention to detail, flavor variety, and the care I put into every order, no matter the size. Each piece is made with intention, and I take pride in creating desserts that are not only visually appealing but memorable.
What I’m most proud of is the community and trust I’ve built through my work. The following Lux Sweets by Bri has gained and the loyalty of my repeat clients means everything to me. I’m also incredibly proud of my personal growth as a business owner the challenges I’ve overcome, the confidence I’ve built, and the way I continue to push myself creatively and professionally with each new opportunity.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I do consider myself a risk taker, but in a very intentional way. Every order comes with a level of risk, because even when I’m confident in my skills, each client has their own expectations and vision. My goal is always to honor that while still delivering something special.
I work closely with every client to create a clear, mutual understanding of their wants and needs, and once that’s established, I stay committed to bringing that vision to life. For me, risk-taking isn’t about guessing or cutting corners it’s about trusting my craft, communicating clearly, and showing up fully for each order.
