Rising Stars: Meet Carlos Codie

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carlos Codie.

Hi Carlos, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
This started as me helping my daughter train for her 7th-grade year of track and field. that turned into helping their team out that year. As a former track athlete, I had a vision for this side of town to become more competitive in sports cross the board. I started hosting weekend workouts then weekly workouts. We started with 8 kids in 2016 to currently training over 100+ athletes monthly. We didn’t always have a Facility to train out of that came in spring of 2020 we opened March 8th, 2020, and we all know what happened 3 weeks later, but we survived when a lot of folks didn’t.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The main struggle was dealing with covid as a new business owner, there’s never anything smooth about being a business owner at all…

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a sprint/hurdle/jumps coach certified through USATF. I’m level 1 and level 2 there’s only 3 levels in certification so I’m proud to say I’m one of few certified coaches in DFW. There’s a lot of great coaches. Don’t get me wrong. But being certified meant something to me.

I think my coach’s eye sets me apart. I’ve been pretty successful in getting kids in college by putting them in the correct events for them to succeed.

I’m proud when I see parents smiling when their kids are signing their college scholarships NLI that’s an awesome feeling.

What would you say has been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Don’t take anything personal and stay true to you. Do things for the right reasons. And don’t be afraid to always do things the right way every time there’s no shortcuts in helping athletes develop.
