Rising Stars: Meet Castle Nova

Today we’d like to introduce you to Castle Nova.

Hi Castle, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Started my music career around 2012. Back in high school, I used to make bootleg mixtapes of remixes and mashups of popular songs for my friends and basically anyone who would take them. That’s when I started to DJ and actually, it wasn’t until March 17th of 2017 after spending all my time in my bedroom practicing how to DJ and perfect my mixing that I got my first real gig at Taboo Lounge out in Dallas. From there on, I still kept working at it because I found something that I really enjoyed and I wanted to play all around DFW. However, in 2019 things were beginning to roll and I was getting constant shows out in Deep Ellum with a lot of friends that I met along the way. Obviously, everything came to a halt when the Pandemic hit, but instead of just sitting around, I picked up streaming my DJ mixes and started to get noticed by some of the local promoters. Finally, March of 2021, I got my first show since the pandemic thanks in large part to Pulsation Nation and Tofu Promotions. With this collective, I started playing bigger and better shows, eventually being able to play alongside big DJs like Fight Clvb, Morton, and DJ Pauly D. And now again thanks to my friends in Pulsation Nation, I’ve been able to play multiple shows at Stereo Live opening directory for Bassjackers and Fedde Le Grand, been able to directly support Mak J, and even play at the Ubbi Dubbi after show with Lextra, Johnny Funk and Dom Dolla. I’ve even had a temporary residency at one of the biggest clubs in Fort Worth called El Chingon and still consistently play there thanks again to Javier Tafoya of Tofu Productions.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road, there have been many obstacles. I’ve made a lot of friends in the industry. But in this line of work, you always have to make sure you have the right people around you. People that want to grow with you, and not hold you back.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a music producer and DJ. Known for playing a lot of Latin music. Being inspired by my culture and its history. I love incorporating that into my music.
