Today we’d like to introduce you to CeCe Simmons.
Hi CeCe, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Wow! Where do I begin! Music and creativity in some form or another has been apart of my life for as long as I can remember. I remember being forced to sing with my family as a child as early as 6 years old. Story telling and writing was always apart of the picture so naturally, song writing became a way of expression at an early early age. I’ve done a lot of background work for many artist and I’ve just recently started to venture into a solo career. I pride myself on being an advocate for doing EVERYTHING you love. I believe that we are all gift and called to a purpose but it doesn’t have to look like just one thing. So here we are!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Absolutely not. Over the years I’ve been challenged with overcoming feelings of rejection that stemmed from being told “no” on American Idol, inferiority complex, and moments of extreme creator’s block just to name a few! I’m a mother to 2 beautiful babies and learning to navigate through motherhood all while remaining creative and inspired in the most positive ways has been a task! It’s definitely not been all sunshine and rainbows!
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Right now I’m an aspiring artist and lifestyle content creator. One of my main specialties is encouraging women in all walks of life to go after it ALL regardless of unforeseen obstacles. Honestly, in this season, I’m most proud of my ability to just keep going! Im a single mother that wars with Father Time CONSTANTLY and to be able to still create a space for myself to create music or content or to just pour into myself is something that I am extremely proud of. I’d say that I’m gifted in writing with an ability to tell a clear story. That coupled with my God given ability and ear for music sets me apart from the rest. My resilience is also something I’d say sets me apart.

What makes you happy?
My children make me the happiest person in the world! My family as well. Hearing a record come to life with all of the ideas that once lived in my head makes me extra happy, too.
